We use Dulong and Petit's method to measure the absolute Expansivity of the Liquid.In this set two cylindrical jacket are used. In one jacket we keep cold water with ice for continuing low temperature so that the liquid kept on the U-tube contracts and volume decreases and density increases as shown in the figure. Accordingly, same thing happens in hot jacket but differently, in this jecket hot steam is passed so that the volume of liquid starts expanding and density decreases and thermometer 🌡️🌡️ is also used for measuring the temperature of that liquid. A wet clothe is rapped between between U-tube for preventing the heat flow as shown in the figure.
Finally by using principle of hydrostatic, pressure exerted on cold region is equal to hot region.
