We just installed the Pole Pal USA 7pc Dump Trailer Wiring Set on our PJ Dump Trailer and couldn't be happier! Their kit uses 2 gage wire and Anderson quick connects. We have tried adding a solar panel but it still wasn't enough. We have 3 work trucks and 3 trailers (dump, equipment and enclosed) and plan to install the truck side wiring on all 3 trucks and the trailer side wiring on all 3 trailers. It is the best solution I have found by far! We will use the trucks battery and alternator to supply power to the pump on the dump trailer, winch on the equipment trailer and interior lighting, outlets and accessories on the enclosed trailer.

Thanks for video. I kept hearing a clicking from the plug for controller. Turns out you’re supposed to use the handle on the plug to pull it out and not yank it out by the cable. Wires were pulled out of position.

Thanks for the video i have a dump truck and its impossible to see whats going on from below the truck. Its one of those jobs thats 100% by feel. So far everything is just super corroded since a salt spreader sat right above it. Id replace the solenoid but everything is caked in grease and i cant see the little screw 😢

@misterbulger

@@roscoesrepairs no its mounted under the bed frame so the bed has to be up to acces it. I just managed to get it to go up but then it cut out, but it was intermittently working as i heard the clicking going in and out as i pressed the buttons. Its got a steel safety arm that can be stuck down to keep it from crushing me while i work on it. Headed to Advance Auto now i think they have the relay. If its the valves, thats going to be a problem without removing the entire unit because they unscrew and back into the frame making them impossible to remove without pulling the entire pump and disconnecting the lines. Bunch of asshole engineers over there at Maxam Mfg, long out of business. I may have cracked the plastic housing on one of them not knowing what the heck im doing. I did see on amazon i can get a full replacement pump assembly for $250. I may just relocate it to one of the tool boxes and have an all new system.

On the two bigger bolts is one going to the ground and other going to the positive on the battery? I’ve changed these things 5 times for whatever reason I’m having trouble with this one it’s driving me nuts and hurting my business, please help!!?
@roscoesrepairs

@user-dl9et5es5f the two bigger bolts: one goes to the 12 volt battery positive. The other goes to the windings of the starter motor. Are you buying the 100 amp solenoid? If you are replacing it with a 30 amp that is why it is failing. Also make sure the solenoid has a good ground. You can also try grounding the smaller solenoid post that is labeled "C". The other smaller post is labeled "S", and gets the positive signal from the switch. Have you tried bypassing the solenoid?

Yes. You could take something and short it across the two big terminals on the solenoid. But you also need to press the up or down button on the controller to operate the valve switches so the fluid can be routed properly.

@roscoesrepairs

You can put a screw driver between the two big terminals on the solenoid, but you still need to push the up down switch to operate the valves on the pump. If you hear the pump run, you just "bypassed" the solenoid. The solenoid is probably bad if that works.

What does a good motor read on ohms. I replaced my solenoid but still no go
@roscoesrepairs
Жыл бұрын
The solenoid may not have a good ground. How many wires are hooked up to the solenoid? One large wire should go to the positive "+" on the battery. One large wire should go directly into the motor. A small wire should be hooked up to the small terminal on the solenoid. If you put 12 volts to that small wire, it is the same as activating the solenoid normally. If the motor or solenoid doesn't have a good ground, it also won't work. Did you try to bypass the solenoid? Did you get a 100 amp solenoid?
@roscoesrepairs
Жыл бұрын
There should be two smaller wire connections on the solenoid. One is "S" for the starting "+"positive 12 volts. The other should be a "C" to hook the ground to if you have a bad ground.

I have a question,I had a load about 5 yards of sandy lome in my trailer,when I dumped it and came down the actual dump trailer don’t line up with the frame of the trail now ,so it stays up Mybe like 8 inches because of it hitting the metal plate guide ,do you know what caused this ? Thanks

Take a "come- along" and hook it to the side that is off and the opposite side of the frame. Tighten it till it is straight. The trailer frame probably wasn't built strong enough to handle the side pasture of the load while in the up position.

Check the voltage on both sides of the solenoid. If you have 12 volts on both sides when you hear the clicking, the trouble is in the valve switch.

If you don't hear the motor in either direction, it is not getting power to the motor. If the pump doesn't activate on the way down, the pump fluid will come out because the pump is not returning it to the holding tank. Are you leaking hydraulic fluid? If you press the down button when the trailer is up, the down valve will open, and the pressure from the weight of the bed will be released.

@roscoesrepairs

There are two valves that control the flow of the hydraulic fluid through the hoses. If one of them is stuck closed, the fluid will not flow correctly. They can be seen in the video to the right of the solenoid. They are, themselves, small solenoids that operate the a valve.
