Old compudiver here. Dumpster must not be chained shut or in a secured dumpster enclosure. If it's in the same location and security condition as the contracted refuse company accesses it, then members of the public are generally safe to access it. This is under statutes that regulate both city or county entities or commercial entities under regulation by or contract to applicable govenment agencies. So the public can cross property needed to access the dumpster under the above rules.

I like what you do. Saving and repairing valuable technology (I mean we live in times where ressources for electronics are rare) to sell it for little money to people who need them. More power to you man. Same goes for people who dumpster dive for food. Like with this electronics there is so much good food just thrown away by the super markets.

Had Electronic Depot here that had a smaller drop off spot set closer to Town for easy access,weren't allowed to take stuff but after midnight nobody was around so that's when i generally would land.The computers,monitors and accessories i got from there that worked perfectly fine was unreal,after a 5 year run they closed it down,fortunately i have enough to last me for some years to come.Miss it though,was like unwrapping presents Xmas morning.lol

Believe it or not but they became my condo “crypto heater” and my electricity bill is about the same as when I was using a traditional electric furnace... but instead of just heat, I get heat + crypto!

I love the whispering at night, with the crickets in the background! Sweet finds, dude. I found a thin Core i7-5500U Dell laptop with 8GB RAM, a battery in good condition, and a 17" screen at my office building's e-waste collection site. All I had to do was buy a $20 universal charger, add a SSD, and install Windows 10 -- they even left the HDD screws inside the case, in a little plastic baggie!

I wanted to do that. Last April, we went to a trash soring facility near my school which was a mistake because now I can't stop going there :) There were no limits - everyone went straight in and got things like computers. And I've scored numerous times. While nowhere near as good, I got a vintage (1980) calculator in perfect working condition, with many other things. I got a bunch of optics as well, speakers too. There are even desktops, but I don't have a car so that's a shame..

@@codenamexp6383 Honestly idk how all this E-Waste stuff works. It may be different for your city but im pretty sure mine asks stores to host locations for money and then gives the e-waste to companies and splits the profit. Is it the same for you? Recently mine have shut down cause of Covid but ill be sure to ask once they reopen. I also saw they had some e-waste in the back of the store so I could take some when they close and there is no one but i prefer not to violate any laws (even if its junk).

You would need to change the cables for the to the power switch that could fix the one where you cannot turn on and off, or it could be the capacitors you can check them easy by looking at the board also you might want to switch the power supply if those first to things don’t help

Not most of them. A lot of xeons are like $5-10 believe it or not. That's first Gen though so they can be cheap if they're old
@drbass9677
10 ай бұрын
those xeons aren't worth much, servers like that sell for like $80 or $90 these days as they're old and draw a lot of power for not a lot of performance hence why they end up in dumpsters becasue they're not worth running due to the high power consumption compared to a modern server.
