This game is one of those games that is weirdly ematic about how it is. Somehow it is simultaneously super complicated and super easy want your money doesn't want it everybody knows about it yet no one knows about it hard to play an easy to play. I have no idea how it has managed that but yeah.

1.) Played the "OG" game back in the day called "Nexon Days".. before buyout. Back then...handful of classes, slower progression, more difficult content. 2.) Came back after...5...10 years? Game has added a ton of content, ton of classes, "crunched" many classic storylines which felt like a weird acid trip because what I remembered as difficult and grindy was now "free win" content for leveling progress. This was frustrating until you get closer to max level, as it feels like any action you take is one shotting everything, so you don't really learn what has value since whatever acts the quickest and hits the most targets is instantly your best ability during standard leveling. 3.) Pretty much one-tricked male striker, lots of events that force you to grind every single day without missing to receive full event rewards, which are oftentimes the best endgame gear(nothing wrong with this model, just feel like the timing windows should be more forvgiving for missing a day). 4.) Stories, Music, Action are all phenomenal and unlike any other game ive played since TMNT lost in time on the SNES/Arcade. 5.) I despise the cash shop and cosmetic stats and the number of endgame upgrade systems. I have left and comeback a few times and I just feel overwhelmed trying to progress my character and you WILL hit walls on certain classes where youll need to grind everyday to get one piece of gear upgraded after a week, and still not be able to advance to new content without being carried. 6.) Class balancing is an issue, as m.striker some content for me was signficantly harder than the same encounters on m.nen. IT required far less effort, for far more value in combat, which made me feel like i was beating my head against a wall to even play my main. This is a common endgame gripe for many classes without paying for gear, boosts, etc.... 7.) In the end, there is a lot going for this game, but I hate micro transactions, if they operated on a sub system and removed cash shop items entirely, balanced the game around this, id have no problem with the fatigue system or any other limitations. The game burns me out everytime I get back into it, but there is a hype and magic to a new playthrough/level up with the badass music, the combat effects and stylization, and characters themselves.

this a millions times. Love the game with a passion and played in the old Nexon days i feel like the soul that it used to have that made it fun to level has been completely killed by the ability to just 1 shot every thing like the whole fun was putting combos and skills together. Yea you can still do that, but everything dies pretty much after the first skill and its like whats the point? might as well just speedrun

@@hasaki_oce4611 mostly in the east, korea? this game is not popular at all in north america because of the business model it operates off of is largely unpopular in the west. Accurate about the game wanting but not wanting your money. DFO player here. To answer your questions: 1. Security is supposed to be in place so that you don't immediately get the full grasp of the monetization features. Bots plague this game and Neople has always been upping their security. Just wait a few days. 2. Difficulty-wise, as you level up more and more, it becomes less about difficulty in the dungeons and more of the grind it takes to gear up. You can always learn how certain bosses in endgame act and circumvent their gimmicks, but don't be surprised if you come across players who will wipe their HP clean. There's all kinds of guides for how to gear up properly, so go ahead and use those. Meanwhile, just play the game and reach lvl100.

Miss the player base of this game soo much. Dungeons were so hype to jump into with large parties and PVP was so much fun seeing how every player customized their skills. Nexon really killed this game in the US when they started pushing more gacha content. Items from player shops and auctions increased in price to where it was near impossible to buy anything good with in-game currency anymore. PVP was also riddled with bots and the entire game was riddled with scams as Nexon support began to drop off.

Please play on the official client. The Steam version has a tendency to kick/ban new players (this was Neople's old policy to ban spam in this game, and it is seriously hurting new players who want to experience the game.) They never really bother to go in to fix it, because of dfo's community size is puny compared to the kdf community. Also the dfo community dev. team is doing everything they can (there are less than 10 people managing the dfo section of the game), so please try not to flame them when you send in a ticket.

Thanks for this, pretty good first impressions video, better then most I have seen, learned a few things, usually its people fumbling around smashing basic attacks untill lvl 16-mid-20's and stopping. You can actually start pvping at lvl 50, gear nor level matters. But pvp is pretty dead for the global server because dfo is a peer 2 peer game and on a global server people can be very far apart so it lags moreoften then not so its a bad experience for ranked. There is still a dedicated base in the practice channel. Are you on the steam or neople client? Yeah the difficulty ramps up alot, leveling is only like 10%of the over all content of the game and its basically a tutorial untill lvl 96. You fight tissue paper enemies untill lvl 87, they upgrade to paper towel, then card board at 96, then steel walls at end game. Its not super great for a new player experience just sadly like many old mmo's they have dumbed down, rushed and gutted all the difficulty out of the leveling phase to get players to the expanding end game sooner for better or worse. Speaking of the end game, dfo changes from that beat'em up power fantasy during leveling into systems wise more of a diablo/mmoarpg wrapped in a sidescroller arcade aesthetic. The end game where you classes type's and party role start to matter for the harder weekly dungeons and raids. The raid bosses are as fast or faster then you and hit you for 25-75% of your hp per hit with support buffers on. So after dodging all their attacks you have alot of mechanics to learn as well so u dont wipe in the dungeon and the mechanics going on during the raid map to clear objectives to move into the next phase. Idk if you are reading the story or not, but if you arnt rly reading it then you can use the Clear Quest feature next to where you accept Act quests and it will make level 3 times faster, since as I said dfo rly isnt about leveling at all anymore you start out progressing your Act quests by exp/level by lvl 18 and by lvl 23 people are useing Clear Quest 2-3 times per level and up level ups to keep on quests at their level for the best exp. So leveling a fresh account to cap takes 7-10 days vs 16+ with out useing clear quest.

Cool. I've heard of Maplestory and I definitely didn't know they did Vindictus. That's really neat. I haven't heard of Kart Rider tho.

Can't disagree more. DFO's first impression is a garbage experience. The UI is bad from the huge load time on first startup to the popups when you push the darkened play button that causes popups? Mechanics and options are alerted(!) without explanation in the UI (eg Arcade Fighter has no explanation. Exploration club has no explanation.) Too many vendors selling stuff you can't use and the things you need early on are at the bottom of a specific vendor in your hideout. Itemization is bad. Fighting mechanics unexplained AND you can't test them until access to the Dojo. Sometimes you get combo hints. No shared safe? What's the point? Most everything is either a straight upgrade or consumable or craft you aren't using. The game is generally boring. Storyline serviceable, except for weird stuff that has no context and makes no sense. I dunno what to say, other than you're take isn't the same as the vast majority of players (who then stop playing).

I mean not every game is for everyone. However, I have a hard time believing the “vast majority” of players think the game is garbage, as you say. I see plenty of criticism for the game, but that’s normal. To each their own.

@@BootySweat4491 You have an average of 400 ppl (and dropping) playing on steam. There has to be a reason because the game itself isn't garbage, but that's the first impression people get from the game. Those people stop playing immediately. I got my wife to play PoE but even when DFO looks pretty, it looks pretty bad to watch. So you're left with the onboarding. For billions of dollars made, it's bad (the first impression), which is a feat.

From what I understand people don’t recommend to play on the Steam client because it’s whack. But it’s all a matter of preference. I don’t find the game boring at all about 100 hours in. For a free game especially that’s more than enough value in my opinion. I’m not saying you’re wrong. Like I said not every game is for everyone.
