I would give wereboars a bit more more Intelligence (maybe a 12), and a better sense of smell. Pigs/ boars are some of the smartest animals, on par with dogs, elephants, and dolphins, and they've been used to sniff out truffles in the woods since Roman times, if not earlier.

A wereboar Biker Gang or Street Gang in a large enough city would be PERFECT for the "Greyhawk 2000" setting presented in Dragon #277. Considering the original wereboar was chaotic, not evil, I think they confused it for the diabolical wereswine gluttony curse. Always figured the original was a witch/fey curse like how the werebear was clearly a druid curse. They used to have scent too, which bugs me more. Edit: Apparently wishful thinking, they were actually neutral (like weretigers) from before good and evil were their own alignments but continued as neutral into 3e. 4e seems to've fucked it up. Paizo seems to like CN specifically, which I agree with thematically.

AJ, you should have a wererat and wereboar in your campaign as good NPC's trying to make amends for the evil they do when under said curse named Sir Timothy and his traveling companion Mr. Pigg. Both are excellent gourmands. Sir Timothy is a Lightfoot Hafling Bard from the College or Lore while Mr. Pigg is a Dwarven Barbarian that follows the Path of the Berserker. They would help the party against a pack of Gnoll Brigands led by the evil Gnoll Necromancer Edwin the Mad.

I'll certainly look into the more unique creatures from Pathfinder bestiaries in future videos, but it would get very confusing were I to present lore from the two different games for the same creatures.. also, having never played Pathfinder (though I have played every edition of D&D, including 3.5), I would probably stumble on the crunch quite a bit. But, there is a wealth of Pathfinder material to research.. you Pathfinder fans sure love your supplements, and you also love to create Wiki's and blogs!

If I ever DM a game I'm definitely going to have these things and have them pose quite the threat. In real life wild boars usually live in sounders, huge packs which can get truly massive which tear up farm land and just land in general. These sounders are usually led by a female. In addition if a sounder isn't completely wiped out the survivors will go and found more sounders. Since boars breed horrifically fast in real life I'd have it so wereboars are a threat to the world itself.

I wonder if a Lycantrope can contact the Lycantropy of another type of Lycantrope. Example would be a wererat being bitten by a werewolf. Also if such a thing were possible would the new Lycantropy replace the old of would the Lycantrope end both forms. If the the later were possible, you could end up with a WERE-EVERYTHING :)
@AJPickett
8 жыл бұрын
So, the answer to this question is not based in fact, but in folk lore.. much as villagers believe that Salt wards off lycanthropes, or you can catch the curse by drinking rain water from the paw print of a were wolf.. Lycanthropes believe that infecting another kind of Lycanthrope will result in mutual contamination, causing both to permanently transform into a savage hybrid form, and lose the ability to tell friend from foe, going on a psychotic rampage until someone or something kills them both. Another theory is that the stronger version of the disease will always win, so, Bears are strongest, followed by Tiger, then Wolf and Boar, and last.. the Rat. However, there may be a difference if the Lycanthrope was born of lycanthrope parents (a 'natural' were-creature).
