I'm sorry for asking about Inside but I just want you to experience it and give it attention on your March ranking so people haven't heard about it cause of that awful marketing Champaign. You can deley it a week if you have to.

I think the best thing about the movie is that all the characters(the thieves, the druid and the paladin) are all so likeable and their quirks make it so funny that you cant help but get emotionally invest in them. And the settings and storylines are amazing too

One of my favorite movies for the year so far. It has magic, dragons, hearts and humor - everything I want to see in a movie and everything clicks. I love the long one take scene - very fun and interesting. My theater was not very packed. I hope by word of mouth, this will get more views so we can get a sequel.

Corey from FRS here. I understand what you're saying about the heart of the characters but I felt that they felt a little flat. That said, I think the entire cast did great with what was on the paper. Michelle Rodriguez is a real hit-or-miss actor for me, but I loved her in this. She played the role of the tough, face-stuffing role of a barbarian that is associated with men so well but yet had that soft tender loving side of a lady. Holga had the most depth to a character for sure. You hit the nail on the head for sure when you said the movie gets better as it goes on. The beginning was slow but it does pick up and as you said it does feel clunky at the beginning. I don't know if you were hinting at the nod to the 1980s cartoon with your comment about cameos but that was one of my favorite peripheral moments. The most enjoyable scene was when they go talk to the dead. My son and I were laughing so hard.

I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Sunday pre-screening at my local theater and I took my friends who are really into D&D (with myself who is into it just a little) so I had an amazing experience! The movie itself was so so good! I loved it and was kinda surprised by how the plot was different then I initially thought which I really appreciated. I loved all the characters but Simon and Edgin were definitely my favorites!

I don't even know what the game "Dungeons & Dragons" is all about, but found the humanity in the storytelling enjoyable. Thank you for spotlighting this one.....confirmed how I felt about the movie!! Have fun in Florida!! 😃

Just saw it as it was recently released on Netflix. Totally not what I was expecting. Never played D&D but played enough video games to recognize certain tropes, like the overly complication bridge crossing description and the paladin, who is an NPC. Goddamn this is a hilarious movie. Funnier than most pure comedies - and they don't have a luxurious medieval setting. And it has heart. Such a nice difference from the nastiness, nihilism and washed-out, grey and grungy feeling of GOT that we endured almost as a form of masochism at times for eight friggin years. You actually want to live in this world. All the main characters are well-defined and a number have solid arcs (not all of them, but you don't need every main character to have an arc). Loved how the Bard was the leader but also kind of useless. Can't fight except by whacking people with his lute and makes plans that fail half the time. It's a damn shame it was stuck between John Wick and Super Mario, as they pulled away viewers and turned the film into a totally undeserved bomb considering all the crappy expensive films that came out this year.

Movie was very consistent in what it was going for, I always like watching Chris Pine from Star Trek reboot, Michelle Rodriguez from Fast and Furious and Justice Smith from Detective Pikachu and they worked great together. Cgi is on point aside from one scene and the action was well done and pretty creative. I thought Hugh Grant made for an entertaining villain as well and the witch lady was ok. Im glad it turned out great, any movie with the 3 actors is always a fun ride.

The Sean's sister and family absolutely loved the movie. Unlike the previous D&D movie you can tell it was made by someone who knows and likes the franchise and didn't set out to make generic epic fantasy movie. The movie felt like how a D&D campaign plays in the D&D world. The characters played how those characters would play (with the caveat that the bard didn't really use bardic abilities, but that would be hard to portray in a movie without breaking a movie).

The directors in that article need to read a thesaurus because that interview did nothing to help the film. I think your "Bad" section start is spot on, but here is the thing. The Movie plays out like a Campaign does when your sitting at the able. I mean sit back and think about the film, and your experience at the table. You'll be shocked how much the comparison hits home. So yeah at the beginning its bit clunky, there is exposition that needs to get out. BUT! that is how every new campaign happens. You sit down and when you introduce your character maybe you want to give your "Backstory." So that the people at the table can get an idea of who your character is. What i love about the movie, is that they turn that into a tongue and cheek moment when like Chris Pine is like. "Let me start off with some context." LOL. I'm yup that is introducing your character right there. But like you said, once the "setup." is over, you shift out of neutral into first, and then the movie just takes off. I can't recommend this movie enough. If you haven't seen it go see it. If you don't know anything about Dungeons and Dragons, don't worry. Anything and everything you need to know so the story makes sense is explained in the movie, and it doesn't beat you over head with exposition. There is one scene where they starts to happen but then you realize its done as joke, as the character doing it is the equivalent of a Dungeon Master's Powerful NPC (non player character) that comes in give info the party needs, and helps them out of a tight spot. I love this movie!

I watched the movie earlier today, and I liked almost everything about it! The one critique I have is that I thought the main villain was a bit boring. She isn't a terrible villain, she's scary and well acted, and the final fight against her was great, but she herself wasn't very interesting as a character. Forge was definently the better antagonist between the two

I really liked it I thought the movie was great I just saw it. You get more out of the movie if you're into DnD but even if not the movie is still quite enjoyable. I don't even play DnD just watch critical role and dimension 20 but even I can pickup on all DnD inspiration in the movie. The movie feels like a DnD campaign with all it's randomness and creative magic solutions. That's what really elevates the movie for me. It's not just using DnD title to sell a fantasy movie so people buy tickets, it actually felt like narrative game come to the screen. Some minor things as a DnD fan I wish I could of saw. Barbarians use rage and I bet in the movie Holga character was raging I just wish they could of symbolized that thematically somehow like her muscles bulge. Also Bards can use magic and I feel like they just wanted to show the human characters as non magical so they didn't let Chris Pine character do anything with that.

Emasculate: make (someone or something) weaker or less effective. Chris Pine is emasculated in the film by needing additional muscle in the form of Michelle Rodriguez. Technically emasculated, he isn’t Luke Skywalker facing down the whole First Order. He isn’t Thor able to literally destroy pretty much everyone and everything. But, he has his own strengths and weaknesses and is a great character. I think emasculating a male character can add to the character.
