Our two man flawless run of Root of Nightmares. I'll try to give a brief description of the encounters below but let me know if you any questions/comments down below!
Cataclysm:
Simplest encounter of the bunch, one person is running planting the seeds while the other takes out the psions followed by the tormentor. Note you shouldn't need to kill the tormentor in the first group of seeds. Your teammate should be quick enough to finish the group. Save the first tormentor that spawns for the second wave. To do this just get him low and once the sweeping terror timer comes back up you can kill the tormentor to extend time. Ideally follow this pattern for the remainder of the encounter (save tormentor and kill once teammate starts next group of seeds). In total there are 4 "groups/phases" of seeds in this encounter. If you accidentally kill the tormentor early, just call out to your teammate that you will need help killing tormentor.
Scission:
Another simple encounter. One person just runs light seeds and the other runs dark seeds. You don't need to well skate but it does make the encounter quicker. Also, make sure to communicate to your teammate when you have hit your seeds as your teammate could hit the start node when you still haven't hit your seed. To make this encounter quicker, you'll want to grab the opposite sides light or dark buff. For example, if I grab light buff, I would then cross sides, hit the first light seed then grab the dark buff after my teammate has hit his seed. Then I would hit the dark seed on the same side, return to the start node to rebuff, and then cross once more and hit another dark node. I would then hit light buff once more, hit the seed on my side, then hit light once more and cross sides to finish the light sides seeds. Then you just clear the adds.
Macrocosm:
There are two ways to do this encounter. One being quicker than the other but each with its drawbacks. The way we did the encounter was the slower way but leaves heavy ammo everywhere in the room which results in us not needing to get aeon finishes. The quicker way to do this encounter is with eager edge but requires finishers. The slower way requires the players to do one floor at a time (top or bottom). We swapped top planets first then did bottom planets. Once done you just proceed with the encounter normally. Note that adds being killed during the encounter while doing this method as you are taking longer to swap planets. Most importantly make sure to spawn kill the centurions as they spawn the colossus in the room. We used numbers for the planet deposits but you can use whatever your team is comfortable with. I used a hothead with demo and explosive light and my teammate used Deterministic Chaos (Debuff machine gun). He used this MG to clear adds and debuff while spamming grenades. The reason why this method leaves heavy ammo everywhere is because of the bricks from beyond artifact mod (killing yellow bars with void weapons can spawn heavy bricks). Going into final stand, my teammate would swap to a rocket as well and we would finish encounter like that. I would highly recommend one person using osteo and a shoot to loot trace and the other can run witherhoard, a shoot to loot trace whenever he swaps to his rocket. Final stand really isn't tight as long as your swaps are on point and you are using shoot to loot properly.
Nezarec:
By far the most annoying encounter in this 2 man. The encounter mechanically is one of the easiest but very small things can lead to wipes or deaths. Also the boss is one of the buggiest bosses we have personally seen in this game. There are certain times where the boss can just absolutely screw you over and ruin a run. Note that the first time hatred is pulled is slightly quicker than the rest. You should communicate with your teammate on who can grab hatred. Once done THE SHOULDER NEED TO GO. Make sure you are not in the position where you still need to shoot shoulders while nezarec is running around. This makes the encounter much more annoying than it needs to be. Once shoulders and hatred are pulled do 2 or 3 seeds and then get ready to survive the wipe mechanic. Once he starts glowing both players can return to doing their respective seeds. Remember that you need to pull hatred one more time here. Ideally the player who is slightly ahead in seeds should pull hatred. Once done, finish the seeds and get ready for damage. If you can get a debuff finish (felwinter helm) on colossus then do so. Going into second phase, you can shoot shoulders immediately and the everything else in the encounter remains the same. Throughout the encounter try to make aeon finishers for your teammate when you can. Mainly right before/after the wipe mechanic once you have dipped in the pool. One player can run osteo, sniper, and a hothead/other rocket. The other player can run the same thing but with witherhoard OR a gjally build.
