25 years since the U.K . miners strike. 20 years after the pits closed, over 100 000 people attended the 125th Miners' Gala in Durham City. Tony Benn, Dennis Skinner and bands from Scotland and Austria, as well as many other guests from across the globe were in the city. Many North East Durham banners were held high and proud. This is just a sample to show that new generations continue the traditions, and a belief that music and miners can be more powerfull than destructive politicians.
