On the threshold of the end and a new beginning there’s a sphere of dusk, where time seems to extend endlessly and passes inescapably at the same time. From this transcendent state between life and death springs the inspiration of Nanine Linning’s newest and maybe most personal piece.
DUSK is a dance piece in its purest form. Concentrated on the essence, it completely trusts the intuitive knowledge of the body. In an immediate directness, the movement captures feelings of longing and awe at the unavoidable.
Three unique parts follow the transition of a pulsing, bright and energetic presence into a shadowy, fragile and decreasing dissolution. The poetical strings of Mahler performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra Heidelberg form the backbone of the piece, for which Nanine Linning collaborates with the General Music Director Elias Grandy for the first time.
Ralf-Carl Langhals from Mannheimer Morgen marks in DUSK a “turning point in Linning`s work”, which he describes as a “new purity”. He writes: “For nearly 15 minutes, Linning and her company receive ovations and bouquets of roses in the Maguerresaal. And this quite rightly: Go see it!”
Christian Gampert from SWR 2 states, that "the choreographer leaves Heidelberg as a star, who greatly dared something with her very young dancers." He describes DUSK and Nanine Linning`s five years of activity in Heidelberg “an impressive conclusion”. Moreover, Gampert predicts for her a “shining future as choreographer - with a unique language of movement”.
