This is one of the best interviews with Dusty I've seen. Just love it. She was telling it like it was and so sweet about all the B.S. back in the day she had to contend with. I bet Dionne Warwick didn't get upset about her recording the song. Dionne thought very highly of Dusty's wonderful voice. She said so in interviews. Dionne's another one with a style all her own.

Dionne warwick is one of my fav singers and gorgeous nancy sinatra did a pretty good cover about it,but i think that late dusty springfield was one most suitable to wishing hoping

Funnily enough, a year after this aired she'd go on to have another top 10 hit with The Pet Shop Boys - "What Have I Done To Deserve This?"

I'm really happy to hear Dusty saying Wishin' & Hopin' is a sexist song because it's exactly what I thought when I heard it. I do like it very much though. Wish they had used other lyrics but hey what can you do?

I agree. Also it was different back then. Like 'Mad Men' ya know. That's the time when all of the female singer-songwriters like Carole King, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Jackie DeShannon, Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, Melanie, Grace Slick, Nico, Carly Simon, Yoko Ono, Dory Previn, etc. emerged and surpassed those dated and sextist type of songs.

Janet i agree even if i wordship wishing...and i love wonderful it's i want to be with you,but it has got some sexist lyrics too(in my opinion)

Yes sexist but it was of the time (1963), it actually sounds like the Scum manifesto compared to another one of Bacharach/David’s hit songs ‘Wives and Lovers’
