Thanks for putting this battle report together. I couldn't decide whether or not to buy Dux Britanniarum, but having seen your battle I put in an order straight away! Can't wait now to get started on a campaign, although I still have to paint the troops.

It is great to see Dux being played. I bought this game when it came out but I have not played it, or picked up any figures for it. Watching your video has put me in mind to build up a couple of forces.

One good thing is that you don't need a lot of minis to get started and you can be up and running fairly quick. If you like this era it's a lot of fun. Thanks for watching!

Great battle report! It's nice to see a close result. I thought the Saxon might have clinched it when the levy began to break. I started my own solo Dux B campaign a few weeks ago with the cattle raid, and the Saxons scraped a win.

Yes, I thought the Saxons had for a moment. But like most TFL games there can always be a dramatic swing in momentum, it makes for an exciting game! Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

I've got to say, the characterization/roleplaying in this game is awesome. It really makes the stakes personal for you, and heightens the drama of the individual games. Side note, it's nice to see Splintered Light Miniatures getting some representation on the tabletop (if I'm not mistaken)

Nice battle report! ...I think sheildwalls provide a better defence against kills than you showed. On P47 "The Shieldwall provides protection and mutual support. Troops in a Shieldwall ignore the first kill on each Group in close combat". Of your sheildwalls your first had 3 groups of Levy so could have ignored 3 kills if all groups were engaged. Your 2nd sheildwall of 2 groups of warriors could have ignored 2 kills each combat. Or am I reading the rules wrong?
@epicfoxtabletop2165
5 жыл бұрын
You got it right, but I think it evened out. The Saxon Elites should have gotten three more attack dice against the levy. I only gave them a +1 per group for superiority instead of +2 per group since they were two levels higher. Now I know so at least I'll be getting those right from here on out. Thanks for watching!

I think you made a mistake with the Fate Cards. You said any card with a boar can be used by the Saxons during any move/turn even its the Romano-Brittains turn. This is not so. Its the unsuited cards that have that rule. Also, playing a card like a Shieldwall Braced for example does NOT cost you an activation point
@epicfoxtabletop2165
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That makes much more sense then if that's the case. I'll have to double check once I get home from work.
@roycop5938
5 жыл бұрын
I'll look up the pages you need to check for the rules and let you know ;-) The rule for the Fate cards is on page 28. "Suit cards, those with an image of a Saxon Boar or British Dragon, may only be played when a player's Nobles (and Lord) are activated. The non-suit cards, those with no image, may be played at any time including during one of your opponent's Noble's activations." The initiatives that cost an activation point are described on page 33. "Command Initiatives"
@epicfoxtabletop2165
5 жыл бұрын
Yes but it still costs an activation point to form a SW correct? But playing the card does not, I was mistaken though when I said it had to be the nobles activation to use SW braced... That card can actually be played anytime. Thanks again!
@roycop5938
5 жыл бұрын
Forming the Shieldwall does indeed cost you 1 point. And no worries. The rules are at times a bit confusing. We've been playing the game for 4 years now, so the rules are etched in our brains ;-)
