I have several Sccy pistols including the DVG-1. I have found they need cleaned and lubed and broken in because they are manufactured to pretty tight tolerances. If there is a problem with feeding or lock back it is usually the magazine. The service is top notch and they sent new magazines within a week which fixed the problem with one other SCCY. I had no problems with my DVG-1 and use it as my EDC along with my Glock and Colt.

Thanks for spending the time and money at the range to put the DVG-1 through the "break in period". Years ago it was common for guns to have to be broken in with several hundred rounds before they smoothed out without any failures to feed or failures to eject. I guess it's only fair to expect that a budget gun like a SCCY is not going to be dead reliable from the first mag like a Sig, Beratta, FN, or even a Glock.

VERY disappointing! I bought the DVG1 with great hopes and when I got it I thought I found the perfect CCW! It appeared very refined for its price and fit perfectly in my hand with the mag extension and IWB at the 4 O'clock position. Problem was first after firing about 100rds, the internal buffer spring broke. I contacted SCCY and they sent one out and I had it within 1 week. I then fired it two more times at the range and just shooting 400+rds total, the trigger mechanism broke! I had to send it into SCCY for work and it cost me $60/round trip postage that you get from SCCY. I paid $200 for the pistol, but I find it BS that just over 400rds and two major failures AND having to pay $$$ for postage to FIX it? I am SO disappointed as I REALLY wanted to like this gun. After getting it back I threw it in my gun safe where it will sit as I DO NOT feel confident using it as my CCW. I'll keep carrying my SW Bodyguard .380 as I KNOW it works!!!! I had an older CPX2 that worked fine. The problem I had was the magazines. When you showed the round rattling around inside the mag, I remembered the issue. I called SCCY and they sent me 2 new mags. Problem solved. I didn't particularly care for the DAO trigger pull/feel of the CPX2, so I'd like to check out the DVG-1 for sure. I have a Taurus PT111 G2 that took a couple hundred rounds to "break in", but now it runs flawlessly, except with Hornady Critical Defense. It eats everything else I feed it, but for some reason... On the other side of that, my G43x functioned perfectly right out of the box.

Two things come to mind here. One is that Smash seems to be using a soft Weaver stance/hold in the initial problem range session compared to a more firm isosceles stance/hold for the problem-free shooting. The failures in the initial session looked magazine related and maybe they broke in after a little use? Or maybe a little of both. Nice looking pistol and also looks like a much better trigger than the CPX.

Went to the range last week and started experiencing the exact same failure to extract , not eject, failures?? You never mention what ammo you are using or if it's all the same brand. I'm shooting 115 gr. Blazer Brass. I've been shooting Blazer for years without issue. Long story short, every other brand of ammo I own shoots perfectly , except the lot of Blazer ammo i was using. I have three boxes, same lot. Ammo from these three boxed will not shoot without many FTE's. So the ammo is probably out of spec. Excessive expansion upon explosion, or out of spec rim size. Thanks again.

I'm just going to throw this out there and say that it's probably the optic that's doing it. I really wonder if they change the spring in the guns that are going to have an optic on them? Basically it's extra weight and it slows down you're probably not going to be able to feed right. If you try it without the optic it'll probably run. Also try different kinds of ammo. I can tell you from personal experience that 147 grain ammo is designed for a 5 inch barrel. It will cost failure to feeds and short barrel pistols. Try 115 grain and get some hot stuff and I bet you it'll be just fine.
@wilycoyote9091
9 ай бұрын
Interesting I was thinking the same thing and would have liked to have seen him run a couple of hundred rounds through it before adding the red dot as that added extra moving mass might be what's causing it to not always eject/feed properly. I know some guns can be picky about ammo, though a modern 9mm should be able to work with about any weight ammo from any of the major ammo makers as they tend to load them about the same across brands as evidenced by very similar velocities and muzzle energies for any given grain bullet, especially FMJ's. Although some folks like to see how a new gun will do right out of the box, I prefer to disassemble and clean and lube it before the first firing. Its a gun I'd like to like but after owning Smiths, Rugers and Walthers I have little tolerance for one that doesn't work right every single time.

when you're finished shooting stop pointing the gun up to look at it, when you rack the slide don't point it towards the ceiling. Gun needs to be pointed down range and never to the ceiling. I'd be nervous shooting next to you the way your pointing it all over the place.

Smash, see if u can find a new Ruger SR9C, or a used one and see how it feels in the hand and it's reliability.

There's a 500 round BREAK IN PERIOD for all handguns ! From the video in the beginning I can see that your elbow wasn't LOCKED IN . Verify the video .

500 round break in is a myth. I have had a ton of pistols work out of the box. ALSO why spend 500 rounds of 9mm which is an easy 200 bucks when you can just buy a nicer gun with that money.

@@SMASHTIME THEORY always is 100 % . When I'm carrying in fear of my life I want to be as sure as possible that my weapon and my ammo work as I expect it to . But to each their own . 👍

My SCCY cp1 jams constantly. Only thing good about this company is the warranty. Definitely would not trust this gun to save my life.

The pistols are fine. Biggest problem is in the mags. I have found that some mags have a sharp edge ot burr on the top edge where the bullets ride. A dremel tool and some polishing along that top inner edge helps alot.

Now that felt like a genuine review. So many others were clearly scripted shills.
