Every night, for 30 nights, I laid in my bed and listened to the entire New World Symphony by this most generous and big-hearted composer. It truly kept me alive. Thank you Antonin Dvorak for giving us your heart.

I remember playing the symphony in a Youth Orchestra when I was younger... it was so fun to listen to the English Horn player play this solo as the second clarinets sat back and played virtually nothing. Very fun piece of music I hope to play again in the near future. Beautiful.

As a child my mom would play this for us (my brother, sister and me) and I was only 3 or 4 at the time and the sweetness of the melody would just grab hold of me and make me sit still and listen, which was hard for a child to sit still for more than 5 seconds. We recently lost mom to alzheimer's decease, and now I listen to this with a bitter sweet feeling. This composition transends time, age or race, little more Dvorak and Bethoven and little less rap and hip hop would help youth today. Enjoy..

This movement evokes such emotions. The tune Going Home is a favorite of mine as a Scottish American and it holds a special place in my heart. It is beautiful done as an orchestra piece but you really feel it when it's done with a lone piper off in the distance joined by a chorus. Wanted to play this for my Father when he left us but it was January and the pipes cannot play outside in January in Wisconsin. I oft think of my Father when I hear this and it makes me smile.

Ulster Orchestra were in my school in 1982 and played this. They asked who knew the tune (hovis), I knew the right answer but kept my 14 year old bum on the seat. One of my regrets in life but made me love this movement even more. Another link for me was the discovery of the Titanic by Robert Ballard. I worked in the shipyard that built the ship and in TV program this tune came when they first found the bow of the ship.

@vladpiranha John Williams was supposedly inspired quite a bit by Dvořák, as a matter of fact. I'm constantly stricken by how well these movements could translate to a movie score. So much imagery. Listen to the beginning of the (most iconic) 4th movement. Again, supposedly, this is where the theme from Jaws comes from.

@rcarrillo7 Some are more emotional than others, but its the feeling you get when you listen to music. Whether it makes you happy enough to cry or even sad enough to cry, its the feelings the song evokes. Some may cry, and some may get a strong feeling, or others may not get either. Listen to these two and look for feeling. /watch?v=ef-4Bv5Ng0w /watch?v=S-Xm7s9eGxU
