Same kit as the ELE J3 cub just under a different brand, were the Instructions horrendously wrong like they were in my ELE branded kit? Pictures were piss poor and the steps stated to install the same piece numbers in multiple places lol. Absolutely no information on servo mounting on the wings so I've just had to improvise and build my own mounts from spare balsa for the servo plates. I put mine on hold for almost two years after almost completing it bar covering, just recieved some clear laminate that I'll be covering foam planes with so I've pulled the cub down from the ceiling and I'm finally going to finish it! I had never built a balsa plane before and could build one perfectly now I've learnt from my mistakes but this one has a very slightly curved rear fuse and will definitely need some rudder trim to fly straight ha ha. I think I'll be test flying it from the ground and not chucking it like I do with foam planes, one failed takeoff/crash and it will be an unscheduled kit again lol.

Yes Steve, it was a total load of crap, kit, instruction and hardware!! It was bought for me as a present to build through the winter but I had to put it on hold as I had a hip replacement in October so wasn't really up to flying or modelling!! Now I've recovered I've looked at the wings and just give up not knowing where to start first but have also decided that building balsa kits is not for me it's to much glueing and waiting I'm far to impatient for that Lol

@@IansRCExploits although I am confident now I've built one and I could build another balsa plane perfectly now I've got the hang of it, price and fragility would put me off too. I can build a foam board air frame that flys well for around £5 and a full days work (excluding fitting it out and painting) and they are very durable and easily repaired. I know that I'll probably only get a couple of flights out of the balsa cub before it becomes matchsticks but it was something I wanted to try. Most of mine is glued with wood glue but you can use a superglue, it bonds balsa very well and super quick! I'm going to be laminating it with clear film I've bought for foamboard and epo planes, I got a 30cm x 75m roll for just over £18 which is a bargain when monocoate film costs £15 for a 50cm x 5m roll and is more durable than monocoate too! So have you not started on the wing at all? My wing came out perfect as I'd already learnt on the fuse. I laid down the front and rear balsa strips temp fitted ribs at ether end to get the spacing and make sure it was square then I taped the strips down to hold them in place and glued all the ribs in place. My wing was easy once I'd thought it though, it was the servo mounts that I had trouble figuring out but then just decided to abandon the Instructions and treat it like any of my foamboard scratch builds and improvised.

I haven't started the wings at all!! I didn't know were to start I will finish it one day, but one day i will buy a balsa Arf just to see what they fly like.

@@IansRCExploits i have a 6 foot wingspan factory built balsa cessna L19 Bird Dog and im terrified of crashing it through some sort of electronics failure or damaging it on a hard landing so its lived on the ceiling much of its life, i should really get it out again, its not giving me any fun whilst it just gathers dust.

To be honest Steve I'm like that with all my planes!! I didn't have much as a kid so I had to look after everything I had!! And I'm still the same I buy a cheap plane to do stunts thinking it won't matter if I crash it and then find I rap it up in cotton wool and look after it and clean it Lol it's just the way I am!!

My finished DW kit is on the HobbyKing page :) hobbyking.com/en_us/j-3-laser-cut-kit-1180mm-inc-glazing-cowl-kit-v2.html The ones labeled "Finished" and "Flying" in the files section. It's a great kit

I didn't get that far Bren!! The instructions for the kit were shocking and I just wasn't enjoying the build, I would have used an APC prop for electric planes!! I think I was going to get what size the kit advised but I can't remember what it was!! There are lots of kits on the market better than that one👍

If you built a plane before I would say go for it, but I had no building experience and the instructions had just to many gaps for a beginner to cope with!! I don't know if the instructions have improved at all as I bought that kit a few years ago know.

@@IansRCExploits Thanks Ian appreciate that, yes I've built a good few planes both static balsa and rc ones.
