Thanks for the tutorials! I followed your guide for building a well and only a single dwarf died doing it! He was channeling a river into the lower floor of the base, and he was in the middle of the channel when the final tile was dug. The water flow pushed him to the end of the channel where he drowned. I couldn't figure out how to save him so I built the well anyways...right where his body was. Dwarves kept getting debuffs from looking down the well and seeing his rotting body as well as miasma floating up the well. I never recovered his body either. I just dug a slightly longer channel and the water pushed his body out of sight and out of mind!

seeing how the wood is all different colors makes me wish we could plant certain trees like in Rimworld

If only we could attach controls to it and actually sail it like in CDDA. Maybe you will build one like that there too? :D

Yeah, that’d be pretty cool. Some sort of caravan mechanic so we can go raid the elves

My current favorite thing to do is generate a world I like and then put a corner of the embark in spooky terrain. If my starting team is awful even better it's a horror theme fortress.

To get rock while avoiding aquifers, perhaps dig sideways into your surrounding cliffs: they can't all be sand, after all? Any sedimentary rock (eg dolomite) is porous; any igneous rock (eg basalt) is not.. but smoothing (IIRC any) rock should contain the seep permanently, provided you do it fast enough! Your fishery & butcher's workshops should be relocated to the top (open) deck to avoid miasma (or install grates above them), but I doubt if your tiny boat people colony will last long enough for that to be a serious problem - esp now you've passed the 20 population threshold :) FWIW I don't think you can carve embrasures into wood; if it's possible at all, I expect you'll have to construct them from wooden blocks.. which may require a lot of rebuilding! However, you seem to have been allowed to engrave carvings on the logs you used to build the hull (in the temple), so if that's correct it may now be possible.. Idk, but check! :( While on the subject, the temple area may have more value if built with wood block walls rather than logs.. but that's another bunch of rebuilding

So besides Dwarf Fortress, do you recommend any other Colony Sims? I played Clanfolk, Rimworld, Rise to Ruins, The Universim, Timberborn, Stardeus, Space Haven, Songs of Syx, Going Medieval, Amazing Cultivation Simulator. What are your top picks?

stupid game mechanics, dwarfs just went straight into the water to drawn. Why not the prio self-defence istincts while game development? Or taking a drink in a shelter is more important? I have also saw dwarf walking straight into lava.
