LOVE it! So, so happy you enjoyed it. Funnily enough, when I had the concept for it, I thought of farming games and thought - why always farming? Can't we have a wizard and dragon euro? Honored for the words "best in class" and all the compliments about components and setup, and everything - we poured a lot in and it's appreciated to hear this. Thrilled you found the magic in the tension of play and the wonder in the "no missed turns" worker placement - Luke Laurie's trademark! Thank you so much for the awesome dive into Eldervale!

I have played this game 40-50 times and your comments are spot on. Every mechanism is so well executed and the production is amazing. This is a game where the 100's of playtests and years of development really show through in the balance and smooth gameplay.

Two things: 1) In the video opening when you use "wife" now, I smile HUGE and my heart is filled with so much happiness for you two and the world! 2) I absolutely love and am so encouraged by the fact your game group aren't all of similar euro-preference as both of you. That you are able to have such diverse mechanic / theme friends to play with, is something I find inspiring and wonderful!!

I just saw your channel for the first time today and really enjoyed the last couple videos I've seen. I got this legendary edition on a friend's extreme insistence but have only played it once, so I appreciate hearing you both reinforce how good the game is. Subscribed and thank you for the video!

It's a great game, so it's nice they're working to get it back in print. It's definitely pricey, but it has a lot of clever mechanisms and some great components, and I'm glad to have it in my collection with all the goodies.

I played this once at a game day and was very surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I assumed it would be a luck heavy dungeon battler / area control (which I would not like), but I loved that it was this very puzzly euro. I really appreciate that you took the time to talk about the solo mode as well! Great review!

Controversial, but this game replaced Concordia in my collection. I just never remembered how the gods/cards related to end of game scoring in Concordia as opposed to colour coded elements in Eldervale, So simple, so clear and clean. Yes, there is luck and combat and take that, but all adds to the unpredictability and interactivity. Great review and Infiniteness of love you two.

Luke Laurie is a big fan of Concordia and it definitely influenced Dwellings. Haven’t heard anyone comment on how the color coded elements brought it together, so honored to hear that. We’re standing on the shoulders of great gamemakers!

As a euro gamer, I watch all your videos and have found your views are very similar to mine and so decided to get the game. Tried the game, loved it after the first play and want to play it again. Happy to have found a new genre of games to enjoy but sad that I have gone over to the dark side of wanting to buy expensive minis to complete the experience. Lol.

I absolutely love this game. It has such an amazing table presence but it plays so smoothly. When looking at it from a distance, you think the combat is going to bog things down like it tends to do in so many games but the implementation is very good and I never feel like combat drags the game down. In fact, the sword gain for losing even makes it feel like you aren't being put way behind when you lose a combat. I could go on and on but it's just great. I think the only issue is that it's so difficult to find. I was lucky to score an all-in copy locally for a reasonable price, but I just wish more people could enjoy it.

I played it at the cardboard alchemy room at my local con, and then meet Luke Laurie and play it's spiritual successor Andromeda's Edge. Really fun one as well. I have the deluxe edition of Dwellings, and now after playing with the Legendary I wish I had spent the extra for it lol

Excellent review! Sadly, I haven’t gotten my copy to the table yet. I have two primary game groups, and one group is not interested. I haven’t been able to meet with the other group due to the pandemic. Hopefully soon, but we’re seeing another surge in cases here in the SF Bay Area. Anyway, I’m curious about Andromeda’s Edge. It seems like it’s going to be a 1.5 version with a sci-fi theme. I wonder if there’s room for both in my collection. I know you both aren’t crazy about sci-fi, but maybe your positive experience with Dwellings will pull you in :D

Such a well-produced review. I also did not have much interest due to the theme (and that title - sounds like a sequel to Cones of Dunshire). But now I'd love to give it a try someday.

Similar to Scythe at all?
@ThinkerThemer
2 жыл бұрын
Aside from moving yourself around a map they're not very similar. Dwellings feels more like a race, more interactive and with the leader obscured. With Scythe you feel the pressure later in the game when you can see who is leading.. but a lot of the satisfaction of the game comes from clever unlocking/upgrading of your player board whereas in Dwellings it often comes from taking something before someone else does! 😁 Hope that helps!
