I appreciate seeing what doesn't work because it happens to me a lot and sometimes I am real hard on myself for stupid mistakes, or not following my intuition. Thanx for being humble and transparent, as usual. Not big on these colors so no further comment and signing off here.

The florescence is wild! My late 90's/early 2000's teen self loves the bottom layer. The top layer reminds me of pineapples.

I was SO SURPRISED the first time I saw that the emerald might be fluorescent. And given that chartreuse is so similar tone wise to radioactive I waws surprised itw asn't fluroescent.
@leahgroess5361

Now you need to dip-dye emerald green to see if it is indeed fluorescent or if the fluorescent lemon worked its way all the way down to the other side from the "too much water"! I love the different variations on these experiments, there's so many things to figure out!
@ChemKnitsTutorials

I think where I noticed the fluroescence before was from a dip dyed combination of emerald green + royal purple. The greenish end glowed. But yes - I should dip dye in just emerald green!

I'd love to see what kind of color you end up with if you mix the emerald with black. I wonder if you'd end up with a really rich deep emerald shade

Love the glowing greens! So springlike! You should try again without adding dye before adding the second layer. The top skein might be super pastel. Also, regarding the green swatches,you showed do you know if the Sea Spray you have swatched is before or after Dharma reformulated it? It says on the site the newer Sea Spray runs blue.

The newer sea spray does run slightly more blue. I have a video that shows off the new vs old. kzitem.info/news/bejne/1GmNn4qEqXl-gHY

I really need someone to buy all three skeins and knit them into a single FO so I can see how they work together as a fade Also, we just put smart lightbulbs in our den. When my husband set the color to blue, the fluorescent paintings on our wall glowed! I haven't tried it with yarn yet, but I immediately thought of you. It could be an easier way for you to check the glowiness of yarn.

I honestly expected the layers to turn out more different one from the other, but they all turned out really pretty anyway so it's all good ahah
@ChemKnitsTutorials

I expected a bigger difference, too. I think that if I picked more of a combination of colors that strike fast and strike slow then the changes might be more dramatic.

So note to self, I don't like Dharma's Chartreuse acid dye (it looks dingy to me) good to know! I think I would have liked this better if you used a something like 20/80 blend of Emerald Green and Florescent Yellow for the middle color. I love the yarn mop though! Thanks for Posting this.
@ChemKnitsTutorials

I haven't used Dharma's chartreuse very much so far. I don't think it is a color that I would reorder since it is similar to others I have in my stash already

LOVE this!! Do you think you would get a good fade set if it were 1 color instead of 3? Also, can you post a link to where you get your zip ties? Mine keep breaking at the worst moments!! Thanks!!❤
@ChemKnitsTutorials
6 ай бұрын
I should have the zip ties linked in the video description - but let me know if that looks broken. I've had some issues with the ties breaking more in recent years than I used do, but I think that this is weather dependent oddly... As for the fade set - it depends on the color for sure. The chartreuse faded as it went through the layers but the other two colors didn't quite as much.

Have you done a lasagna project with colors that break. I am interested in how that would work
@ChemKnitsTutorials

There is one example of it here - The middle green breaks into yellow and the green. But otherwise I haven't specifically picked colors that break for this.

Oh man, the reds would strike to the yarn without even adding any acid and then there would just be the blues left. I'll think about it. :D

@@ChemKnitsTutorials I think it would be fun! Or maybe solar dye but only put dye on the bottom later and see if it travels up? IDK, but either way, this colorway turned out beautifully!

I thought this also. By the color of powder on her gloves, she added yellow, yellow, and emerald green.

The chartreuse dry powder looks yellow until you push it in. I had a double take at one point but I saw the correct color on the yarn mop. (I really think... but I could always have made a mistake!) There was no flureoscence in the upper chartreuse sections so this also makes me think I didn't accidentally use the yellow there.
