Agreed, also the one at 2:55 is borderline dangerous play in my opinion. It seems like the offence did not see him coming in from the side/back and ended up on the ground.

If you`re throwing in stride, you have to throw before your third step touches the ground. Since I believe that his right foot was the first step he made while catching the disc, he managed to throw before he stepped again with his right foot.

I don't want to be that guy but this a career highlight reel. Look sure this guys is a beast, but there were clips from his freshman and sophomore year, and his club season. All callahan videos, not just this one, should have the specific season highlights, its fair to the other candidates.
@giovannidanforth5813

Why does this have to change though? It gives a good picture of how talented of a player he is and how he has helped his team over the years. George Stubbs only has video from one year and his video is definitely not one of my favorites (that being said he is one of my favorite players). As a fan I am always willing to see extra clips if it makes for a better highlight video.

@jletoniemetz

No. According to the rules of ultimate (XVI. J. 2. b)) "It is not a travel if a player catches the disc and releases a pass before the third ground contact." If you don't speed up, change direction, or make three ground contacts between catching and releasing the disc, there is no travel.

Where do you see the travelling?
@jamesrobin2857
7 жыл бұрын
The Dylan Freechild Give-n-go isn't a travel. He catches the disc moving one way, sets his pivot, then leans the other way and throws.
@jletoniemetz
6 жыл бұрын
James Robin the rule I would use to defend it, if called, is actually the one that states that a pivot doesn't have to be established before the disc is released again, as long as you don't change speed or direction before releasing it, and you release the disc before your third contact with the ground after gaining possession.
@bostonsoxfan015
11 жыл бұрын
He shouldn't get it purely because of the disc spiking... Is that supposed to look cool? Tools do it. Ego needs to get some class and then maybe they can turn out a respectable Callahan nominee.
@jletoniemetz
7 жыл бұрын
It's celebratory, sometimes used to hype a team up. Very unspirited IF done solely to rub it in to a defensive player, or done in front of them, but Freechild isn't that kind of player. I played with him for a few days, and he spiked a fair amount, but never with bad intentions. Adding to that, Freechild is an incredibly fair and spirited player. I don't know if you saw this, but just recently he made an excellent layout D on an opposing player, stood up, and called a foul (strip, iirc) on himself, giving the possession back to them.
@CADSNIPER303
10 жыл бұрын
Actually if you review the play closely neither of his feet are set as a pivot foot. If you review the entire video he has so many travels it is sad that they used them as highlights.
@jletoniemetz
7 жыл бұрын
Actually, if you review the rules closely, none of his plays here were actually travels. 11th edition Ultimate rules, XVI. (violations and fouls) J (traveling) 2 (exceptions) b): "It is not a travel if a player catches the disc and releases a pass before the third ground contact." If a running player catches a pass and then releases the disc without changing direction or accelerating, there is no travel.
