Maybe it's a breeze because it's lacking a lot... - no ADSR for parameters at all - no shape control or custom shapes - no modulating of modulation - no easy global modulation setting - random modulation setting is set in stone and can't be defined for... example, step modulation I love reaper and have been following you and admire you... but we have to admit modulation in reaper is a joke.

This is an awfully geeky approach to something easily accomplished with a much simpler dynamics sidechain. However, the possibility to dynamically alter other parameters, such as decay time, is really special. Thank you, Kenny, for revealing this well hidden trick.

Small question to almighty Kenny! Your signal after the reverb is about minus 6 db. Is it enough headroom? My raw vocals being around minus 18 (as you recommend in other video) - and it doesn't change much after eq and compressor. I find it hard to bring it to the values you arebin this video. Thanks!

What would the benefits of this be over sidechaining a compressor to the vocal be?
@DirkBelig
4 жыл бұрын
Because this adjusts only the wet mix parameter of the reverb based on the audio level rather than compressing the vocal level which isn't what we're trying to do. The goal isn't to change the level of the vocal, but ride the fader on how much reverb is occurring when. This way the big room sound isn't making the vocal sound mushy when singing while filling the gaps with verb.
