These are the final minutes of "The Choice (aka "The Vendetta")", the sixth season finale episode of Aaron Spelling's 1981-89 ABC soap "Dynasty". This was the 31st and last episode of the sixth season (and 148th overall).
This marked the year that "Dynasty" was knocked off its' perch as the #1 television series in America by the new television darling, the popular 1984-92 NBC sitcom "The Cosby Show". The season ended at #7, tied with NBC's upstart hit sitcom, "The Golden Girls".
This also marked the final appearances of Catherine Oxenberg (Amanda Carrington) as well as original cast member Pamela Bellwood (Claudia Blaisdel Carrington) The episode originally aired Wednesday, May 21, 1986.
The first scene involves a catfight in the pool (a Dynasty trademark) between the youngest Carrington daughter Amanda (Catherine Oxenberg) and longtime troublemaker Samantha Jo "Sammy Jo" Reece (Heather Locklear) over the dashing Clay Fallmont (Ted McGinley). Their part of the scene ends with Amanda holding Sammy Jo's head underwater, helpless.
The second scene switches to La Mirage, a hotel owned by the Carrington family. In Suite 28, Claudia Blaisdel Carrington (Pamela Bellwood) is damning all the people that have lied to and betrayed her. She strikes a match and lights a candle of every Carrington family member that had wronged her: Blake, Adam, Steven, Alexis, Krystle and Sammy Jo. She denounces them as all liars. One of the candles falls over and lights ablaze the curtains and quickly, the whole room. She stands there with a terrified look on her face.
Pamela Bellwood is never seen again as Claudia Blaisdel Carrington.
After returning home, Blake (John Forsythe) and Krystle (Linda Evans) are quite stunned so see their luggage packed at the bottom of the stairs. Just then, Ben Carrington (Christopher Cazenove) hands Blake a paper stating that he is broke. Blake refuses to believe this. Alexis (Joan Collins) calls his attention from the top of the staircase. She then echoes Ben's statement that she is the owner of everything that is Blake's: his company, his fortune and even his home. She then theatrically throws his and Krystle's coats from the balcony orders him and "his blonde tramp" out of her home. Blake denounces this as another one of Alexis' deceptions. She produces a parer stating that she bought up all of Blake's holdings, including the Carrington house, and that there's nothing he can do about it.
For Blake, this is too much. Six years of Alexis' lies, schemes and manipulations have finally driven him to the breaking point. Blake then charges up the stairs and begins to strangle Alexis. Krystle tries to stop him, but Ben holds her back.
