Nice T-28. Dad was a Flight Instructor at NAS Pensacola in VT-10 where he flew T-34s. Flew the 28s as well, and always said it was his favorite aircraft to fly.

I have two T-28 Trojans. The first is the Parkzone T-28 that I bought several months ago - and installed the E-Flite retracts per Flite Test's instructional video. The second is the E-Flite Carbon-Z T-28. Wow! Both planes are very easy to fly, and very forgiving. The CZ Trojan gets a lot of attention at the flying field due to its size. It also has a great presence in the air. I would recommend the Parkzone Trojan to practice, but not to move to the Carbon-Z until you have a lot of experience. Believe me, you DON'T want to crash this one. Also, transportation is an issue, even when it's disassembled. I have a Hyundai Genesis coupe, so when I go to fly, it's the only plane I have room for.

Hi there, I have been flying for 35 years but mostly balsa planes with fourstroke engines. Ive never had a Trojan before and im seriously thinking of buying this plane as its just been re-released. I wont be able to fly it with the Spektrum radio safe stabiliser as I only ever use Futaba 2.4 radio gear. Do you fly your Trojan with with Spektrum safe? Also are the retracts strong enough for our club grass runway? Also am I right in saying that there is a great sound of this plane while in flight as I like that in a model plane? Sorry for all the questions but I would love your opinion before I buy the plane? Thank you and much appreciated.

I agree with Brian Evans about your local model shop. All the ones near us have closed and we're now reliant on shows and, of course, the internet. That one looks well-stocked. You don't necessari;ly need a big car or van to transport a model that size. I travel to my flying site alone so I just shove my longer fuselages over into the front passenger area :) One of my biggest models is one called an Eazy Peazy which has an 84" ws (wing in 2 parts) and is made from foamboard. I bought it part complete and converted it to electric power (fro a 60m size glow engine) on 4S LiPos. It has a stately flight characteristic and is iffily aerobatic :) T-28 looks a fine model and bigger models do fly better but they are more expensive. I think a written spec at the end would be helpful to potential buyers - wingspan, weight, energy size etc is good to know. Thanks for all your videos. I watch most of them that aren't quad biassed :) Geoff

Thank you fellas for putting together a review on an awesome ready built plane. The T-28 is one of my favourites as I used to work on them. Good on periscope, glad you all are using that. Always glad when my cell gets a P-scope notice from you guys. That has added a lot to the FTest experience. Did not know you can do the heart thing - guess I have to find out more about that. Nice plane, above my budget but I like to see what's out there. Good info on the batteries, that kind of info is useful to us out here. A balsa/fuel plane here or there would be cool. Seems there is a fair amount of interest from people who have only flown leccies to try fuel. Right now you can get glow engines pretty cheap, and whole planes on craigslist for less than the price of an engine alone.

Got this plane a few weeks ago, best foam plane I have owned. Flies just like the small one :) Only thing I didnt like were the gear door hinges, which were made of plastic...they can break easily, so I advise to clip them off, drill two holes and put a good sized servo rod piece inside :) Works well, and can forgive any hard landing ;) Overall a must have for a RC Flyer :)

Once you get to this price point, foam just doesn't make sense. You have spent your way into a really nice gas large scale plane. These are very nice, but the reduced flight times and the battery cost and everything else, it makes more sense to go balsa and gas.
@DGunter

+Flite Test I'd love to see you do a "fringe" brand plane... Easy Sky makes a Yak-12, sold through HobbyKing... I have one and have had some issues getting it to work as advertised. It's a 5 channel. I bought it RTF, and the radio it comes with has dual-rates built on a switch, which is nice, but you can barely use the lower rates in tight areas, and the normal rates require a football field. I have since upgraded to a FlySky FS-i6 transmitter and receiver running on 2A. This xmtr I can dial in my own rates and such, which is awesome and I cant wait to try it out. I'd like to see what you guys can do with a Easy Sky Yak-12, but use your own xmtr's.... I believe the Turnigy is the same as the FlySky... but even a Spektrum would work... Thanks!
