Good video, very informative! Watching your videos is like having a super detailed owner's manual for Tri 5 Chevys! Always look forward to Sundays so I can watch another 'how to' show. :)

Nice work Bill. I will definitely look into buying from that company for the door weather strips. I like that they will just snap on.
@RestoringChristine1956

Even so, get a tube of weatherstripping adhesive, because they don't always stay in the right place where you need them.

I recall when I built my 55 several years ago, that there was a "J" shaped weather strip that went on the leading edge of the door. Were 56's different, or did I miss something? In retrospect, I wish I could have seen your videos back then. My car would have come out much better. You do good, thorough work.

To be honest, I have a "J" strip that came in the kit... I never thought to look where that belongs, but I guess I should!

Knowing the metal is all fixed underneath is what makes it so good ...We would have just gobbed in the Bondo back in the day ....Never thought 70 years later you guys would be fixing these things up like new ! WOW !

That's sort of what Christine was. After having her fully dismantled, I'm convinced that she lived quite a few years in the weeds until someone came along and did exactly what you said just to get her back on the road. She looked awesome from 10 feet. Now she's going to look good in 1080p!

Looking good! I think letting the doors stay closed for a few weeks will collapse the rubber down a bit and let the doors close better.i didn't notice if you have the small rubber cushions at the top and bottom of the b pillar for the doors to rest against.

You might be able to grab the door at the top and a knee at the bottom and give it a pull ... when I get a bare metal hole I like to put a little silicone in the hole to seal it from rust ... again it takes a while for the rubber to settle down ... I would of left the doors offf to make it easier fot the interior install but it is nice to get them out of the way ... lookin good ...

Great point about the interior. I will likely take the driver's side door off when I do the interior, but I needed to see it back on the car first in case I really needed to do anything drastic.

I have a ways to go before I rehang my doors but this was very helpful. I like your comment about not fixing everything to look brand new. My ‘55 got new floors/rockers/tailpan but most of the shell/front clip are original. I don’t want to load it up with reproduction parts when the old stuff still has life. You do a really nice job on your videos.

Thanks! I put the other door on this weekend and the two of them are WAY tight. I guess that's just the way it is with new weatherstripping. Hopefully, they'll relax a bit!

Great work Bill! Bet there were some “muted” words while hanging the door? 😂 Not once have a put on a door solo and not scratched it or had some kind of mishap. Very impressed! Till next week.

Yes! There are two 5/16" x 24 hex bolts at the forward face of each hinge along with the #3 phillips bolts on the jamb.
