Sagan didn't blow up just without a reason. He had a mechanical since the feed zone. He had a problem with the rear deraillieur and couldn't shift nor run in the gears he would have needed for more than 100 Km.

@Brend Coremans but not in E3. I've watched most of the spring classics over the the last 10 years and Stybar has sat on the wheels so many times in the finals. He's a talented rider for sure, but he doesn't work. If he's in the front group he will sit in the wheels until the very final and only then will he put his nose into the wind.

@Brend Coremans I just don't see it as a fair win. When you sit at the back of a small group who are taking turns to stay ahead of a rampaging bunch and only stick your nose in the wind in the last 100M to take the win it's not in the spirit of the sport. Simon Gerrans rode like that. People said he was such a smart rider but he never wound have won a thing on his own strength. I have so much more respect for guys like Jungels and GVA. They ride hard, all the way, and their wins are the wins of real men.
@permutationlab
5 жыл бұрын
@@lesflynn4455 Do you realize he has a teammate in the front? Would you chase down your own teammate? No racers worth their contract would have done that. THE POINT that Jungels killed himself was so that Stybar could keep his legs fresh for the finish line. Their race tactic was impeccable. This is a team sport not a chivalric 1v1 contest. Had Stybar helped the chasing group he would be deemed the dumbest rider in this race. GVA and VWA were the strongest rider but Quickstep had the best team. That's why they won. It's a luxury no other team has and they deserve it.
@lesflynn4455
5 жыл бұрын
@Brend Coremans I actually do get it. I was posting drunk and forgot Jungels rides for Quick Step too. He's always in National Champion colours anyway. He smashed himself going up the road and unfortunately it didn't pay off for himself but worked a treat for Stybar. Jungels even have that last massive surge which helped Stybar further, with only a few k's to go. Stybar was still relatively fresh as a daisy after sitting in wheels for the last 50K. Quick Step must have put in a huge collective effort to get Stybar up to the break. I know the win was fair because that's hon bike racing works. I still think Stybar is a bit of a wheelsucker. My opinion wasn't formed on E3 alone, and it is only my opinion.
