Consider not cutting out the smalltalks nor putting music on top of them. Beside that - great as always, ultimate insights, thank you both for that episode.

Hi! I live in Sweden, lived a few years in north of Minnesota and would love to move to south of France! Spot on!😂

Are you a US citizen? Are you considering living in France permanently?

Also in Sweden. For me it's primarily the lack of light wintertime that's rough. I really don't think living in Minnesota where I understand winters are cold but it's still way more south than Sweden and more daylight, and hence also stronger light during that time. In Sweden, even during the short time when there actually is daylight, the light is so damn weak..

Spot on about doctors! It's entirely possible for a layperson to know more about certain things than doctors...especially if they suffer from a condition and do their own research.

I usually agree with DL but here I'm a bit lost. I'm a doctor myself so it might seem like defending status, but as a doctor ofc I also have insight in what's needed for the job. Make cases of my everyday work is quite complex I'd say. At the moment I work in emergency medicine and I'd say a majority of the severe cases aren't textbook cases where you can just learn a simple algorithm and know what to do. It's needed to have a deeper understanding of many systems in the body and how they effect each other. And yes even necessary to have some basic chemistry background cause blood gas analysis is a common part of emergency medicine, where you need to know what cations/anions are etc. I'd say most things doctors do are not necessarily complicated, but could be depending on the specialty (icu doctor's work is very complicated I'd say), but what most do is very complex. Apart from well founded understanding of the anatomy, physiology, pathology etc, what makes a good doctor is experience. It's impossible to read in all the possible combinations of conditions and how that will be express. Seeing a lot of patients is very important. But still, that is not enough without the basic foundation. I notice that sometimes with very experienced nurses. They don't understand complicated cases on the same level as doctors t all, cause they simply don't have that training. Also he said doctors in the US make a lot of money cause they're deep embedded in the government. I'm from Sweden and here we definitely are embedded in the government, almost all positions are in public hospitals. We earn way way less than us doctors.

My friend's daughter didn’t want to be a lawyer..but she saw how much the lawyers made so she became one & earns $500k/yr as one in Palo Alto. She had 2 boys & wants another child. Husband cares for 2 boys @ home; he doesn't want another child.. too much work!!
