You got me to take the plunge brother! I have an EF129 DC53 Tanto on the way. It’ll be here Thursday. I couldn’t believe the price point. Any other brand would be charging at least $150 for a 10” blade with G10. $50 out the door. Unreal. I can’t wait!!!

That thing is sweet brother and it is my understanding that DC53 is not only harder than D2 but it's easier to sharpen too which is odd! But if that's true then it's some badass steel

Why can I not find much info on DC53 steel? They are a few forum post from 15 years ago and a small handful of KZitem videos, but most of the videos on KZitem are all Asian language. Is this an improved version of D2? How can it be a stainless tool steel? Why are there no KZitem videos? I only ask because in situations like these, it seems like targeted marketing. 7 million videos on D2, why no DC53? Great videos by the way. subscribed

Thanks man. I guess because it’s not a designer steel? It’s not the rage or trend? I seriously don’t know. I found out about it by buying a few Chinese made knives in DC53 steel and when I tested I scratched my head asking why I didn’t find these knives sooner! C: 1.00; V: 0.30; Cr: 8.00; Mo: 2.00; Mn: 0.40; P: ?; S: ?; Si: 1.00; Maker: Daido - Japan (JP) Notes: Quite tough steel, with as per manufacturer, almost twice the toughness, better wear resistance, and smaller carbide size compared to D2 steel, capable of 62-64HRC working hardness. Very similar with Bohler-Uddeholm Sleipner steel, with slightly more Carbon, and less Mo and V. Follow the link for additional info.
