That's your man Jami ..... Dr. Google had this to say: When woodpeckers put all their focus on a single tree and begin aggressively feeding from it, this usually indicates illness in the tree or bug infestation problem. It sure is nice to see the pond so full - hopefully it's sealed itself and will stay that way. So good to see Jami without her mask and smiling - she is one incredibly strong woman.

Going into winter, larvae are plump and delicious (if you're a woodpecker), and it's these juicy morsels for which the woodpeckers will strip the outer bark from the tree, sometimes starting at the ground and working all the way to the top. If the extensive pecking off of the bark goes all the way around a tree, it can cause damage and death to the tree. To protect trees from woodpeckers, wrap barriers of 1/4 inch hardware cloth, plastic mesh, or burlap around injured areas to discourage further damage. This method may be practical for high-value ornamental or shade trees. In addition, wind chimes, mirrors (that reflect larger than the source), and cat nip are all non-toxic ways of scaring off woodpeckers. Also mount fake owls 🦉 & eagles 🦅 to scare them off. They are a federally protected species so no lethal methods, not that Lester would ever consider that anyways. 💕
