I grew up in the late eighties and early nineties going all over this area fishing with my dad n mom. I love this area! My dad LOVED fishing... Until one time he said the fish looked at him, and he couldn't do it anymore. He was really such a gentle-hearted soul. I remember him taking me to the hatchery. My first time catching a fish all by myself in the Jemez river. God blessed me to grow up in New Mexico. And thanks to my Daddy for bringing us here for me to spend my life! Both my parents are together at Santa Fe National Veteran's Cemetery. 💜🇺🇸

What were you using in the canoe on the lake

I was using a green frog colored spoon and I also did good with panther martins. It seems lures like rapalas get full of moss this time of year. Good luck and tight lines. 👍🏼

@@fredsfishingadventures I am Veronica's neighbor and was up in July the same time she was, fishing was pretty slow, I thought due to the rain as well. Going up tomorrow for one night with a friend, we are going to hit Questa, Red River, Eagle, and Cimmaron canyon, hoping the fishing at Eagle will be better.

Do they stock trout in Eagle nest? Very nice trout..

Yes they stock them but the ones that survive the pike grow bigger than anywhere else it seems.

@@IntotheNorthTV the pike can get up to 48 inches and 30lbs but unfortunately they were illegally introduced so the NMDGF does not let people release them. The good news is they are also very delicious.

I just rented a cabin across from the lake in december. Have you ever fished in December there? Is there a place to rent kayaks up there and where are all those creeks?
@fredsfishingadventures
2 жыл бұрын
I have fished there during the winter it’s a hit or miss whether the lake is frozen or not. It’s best to check on the NMDGF website during that time to get updates. They will let you know when it’s time to ice fish. I don’t know of any kayak rentals but I’m sure there are some around might wanna call around on that. The creeks are in Red River NM and the other is the cimarron river. You can put them in maps and it’ll take you to it. Here is a video of us fishing on the ice. kzitem.info/news/bejne/opCmmISfiaZ0dWk
