We don't care what posting schedule y'all decide on as much as knowing you're providing the best self care for yourselves as possible. We support the channel and would love to continue enjoying videos so long as y'all enjoy making them, but ONLY as long as y'all are continuing to enjoy the process. If it becomes stressful or burdensome, we hope that you'd step away to make sure your mental and physical well-being remain priority. And clinic, of course, bc we know how much joy it brings to be able to continue to take top notch care your patients. We hope y'all continue to prioritize your health, and are y'all's ride or die. Thanks for your compassion and enthusiasm, it's such a highlight to be able to experience these situations "with" you! 💜

I was wondering if you could share the age or approximate age of the patients in the video and if there is any underlying pathology going on that causes these issues? I’m curious why a child has a blockage like that and it is not migrating out of the ear canal? I also wonder if these patients come in regularly or if a lot of them are one time visits?

When you have these large plugs that need a bit of "love" to pry them out of the ear canal, what are your thoughts to include a reference object in the ruler shot that would show the width of the plug realtive to the ear canal openning? Maybe something like an eraser tip or small glass stone from a craft store?

I feel like a child can't properly consent to having their exam uploaded. Idk I feel like a caretaker could consent for a child if whats happening is medically neccesary, but I feel like uploading their exam is not medically necessary.I feel like we should be more considerate of children in that we don't just consent to things for them for things that aren't necessary.

The first patients wax plugs weren't due to lack of cleaning or care but due to necessary use of silicone ear plugs which pressed and compacted the wax until it became a hindrance to their hearing. This is very common and doesn't mean a person isn't hygienic or anything like that. Our ears are designed to be self-cleaning but when something like an ear plug, ear bud or other object is repeatedly pushed into the ear, this can unfortunately become the result over time without the person knowing anything about it until all the "sound gaps" are filled, preventing sound waves from getting to the drum.

Rhys, I've asked this question before, and I guess I'll have to keep asking until I get an answer. Why do you (and Taylor), after removing the majority of wax and skin buildup, always say "and the little bit thats left there will migrate out on its own"? I mean, if it had been able to migrate out on its own, the patient would not be in your office! So what makes you think it will be any different in the future??
@minvestuto1397
Жыл бұрын
Because it now has access and room to move!
@pamprier4710
Жыл бұрын
@@minvestuto1397 It had room and access to move, to begin with. But instead, it stayed inside the ear canal. Hence my question.
@TaylorGreen.
Жыл бұрын
Hi Pam, sorry we have been unable to answer your question, in relation to the migration, large plugs of wax/skin will, in 95% of cases, not move out of the ear by itself when fully or mostly occluding the ear, even with Olive Oil use. This wax then becomes ‘troublesome’ Our Job is to remove this Troublesome wax so that we can examine the Tympanic Membranes health. Skin naturally migrates from the Tympanic Membrane and it is this what tries to push ear wax out naturally, this doesn’t always happen, hence build ups of skin and wax. Once these plugs have been removed and TM is in view, our job is done, these little bits we leave are absolutely fine A lot of patients don’t like the noise levels of the suction so we try to be inside the ear as little as possible for patient comfort and safety. So there are several reasons why it is okay for us to leave these little bits in the ear canal, I hope this answers your question. TG
