I love gardening. Each morning I skim through it before work at 4. Then in the afternoon. Morning picking is great for sure. My one dog picks beans but has a hard time putting them in a basket. Too funny. Yes , she eats them. Potato dign coming soon. Cukes, cayenne and the normal stuff

I have a small garden this year. It's been dry and yet there are bugs galore, bites galore too. I don't know if they are mosquitoes, chiggers, or both but I have them all over my legs and ankles. I just had to complain about it.

Can we talk about how you harvest garlic? It was so interesting to me that you already had the tops cut off. This is my first year growing garlic and it produced really well. I ended up pulling up the entire plants and they're currently 'curing' on a drying rack my husband build me. I'd be curious to hear your process.

Ha! This is what happens when you set your young boys on the task of cutting the garlic scapes off and they end cutting the entire top off the garlic. No, this is not how I usually harvest my garlic. We will see how it does in the root cellar.

How are your cabbages so gorgeous? Mine are so eaten up from slugs and cabbage moths. I’m going to try again for a fall crop but this is my third year of cabbage failure.

Take heart! Indeed, we have had seasons like this. Not every cabbage from my garden has been KZitem worthy. But we still eat them and enjoy them for what they are. This year has been better for us as far as pests. I think the weather has played a role.

Was wondering the same thing. How about squirrels, rabbits, deer, and rodents? I have fencing but still they get it and wipe out green beans, sugar snap peas, cabbages, broccoli.... What do you use on cabbages to protect them?

Honestly I think we live in a good place for pest control. We don’t get a lot. Squash beetles and aphids may be our worst ones. As far as birds and such, they get what they get. We are on a sharing system 😀

Some are bush tomato plants and we didn't stake those this year. But it will be our first year not doing so. We will see how it turns out. It seems not matter what we do we end up with a tomato hedge by the end of the season.

Thank you! Those are self seeded ones from the previous year so I can’t quite remember. The birds often spread the seeds everywhere so I don’t actually plant sunflowers much anymore. I just decide which ones to allow to grow and where.
