If we are going to tell the story of medicine, we had better start at the beginning, which means we need to go all the way back to the start of recorded history. Pretty much all of the techniques we employed millennia ago are laughable by today's standards, but in a pre-scientific society, superstitions held sway. Let's take a look at some of the figures who are able to make the first significant strides towards legitimate medicine.
