When I was a kid I went perch fishing with my dad and he hooked up on a carp on an ultralight rod. He ended up fighting the thing for about a half hour before finally bringing it in. It was a really tense moment, but a memory I'll never forget!

Thanks so much for the info about being able to use up to three rods for carp in Ontario...I've been carp fishing with corn for years and had no idea!

hey, thanks for the lures the other day Ivo! caught a bunch of bass, few lake trout and a bonus walleye with the american smelt before it was broken off by a salmon, think my drag was a bit tight and not so smooth, hopefully we get more nice weather while the salmon are still around! water is still quite cold (48 on sunday) so I think they could be around a little longer.

I remember catching a carp that size when I was like 21….It didn’t fight at all, it felt like I snagged a log and was reeling it in 😂
@brian1204

That is unusual! Are you sure it wasn’t a buffalo? Usually carp fight like redfish… run after run, never seeming to tire.

IVO - I assume it is possible to fill the bait pockets with a dough ball. Can you show an episode doing this?
@thundermistlures
2 жыл бұрын
...yes...you can certainly fill them with dough balls and in fact, they will be a great help to keep them on your hook - good luck on the water - the carp fishing is good now and will only get better!!

That looks like a great time! Do you plan on having your bait-pockets on Amazon? Also, would you mind telling me brand and power/action of your 7’6” rod? I love the rod’s action on those carp.
@thundermistlures
2 жыл бұрын
one rod was 8 1/2 ft and the other 7 1 /2 ft medium power - amazon has all the info on the bait pockets, but its totally up to them if they sell them or not as we do not have any control over that :) Hopefully, Amazon will add them to their line up

Great video. Curious what brand and model rod you are using there? Looks like maybe an Ugly Stik. Thanks for any info on the gear used
@thundermistlures
2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed this episode :) You are correct, it is an Ugly Stik and in this case, I was using an 8-foot rod - longer rods help take some pressure off your line and make it easier to land the fish, although, it is not essential - I have landed many carp with my 6 or 7-foot rods - it's just that longer is better :)

Can I use braid to catch carp ?
@thundermistlures
Жыл бұрын
yes, you can use braid, but be sure to use a fluorocarbon or mono leader, as carp can be very skittish and although you may still catch them with braid, you will catch more using a leader to your braid. Cathing carp is a lot of fun - good luck out there :)

@@thundermistlures evo I come back to your videos often they are a big help to me you are a huge role model for me thank you so much my friend ….. there are also salmon in the river and I have Seaguar neon green 30lb braid can I black out like 10 feet and throw spinners for them with that ? Thanks again evo your amazing 🤗❤️

@@PinkBlondeBarbiexo So glad to hear you are enjoying our videos and you can black out some line, but again, the best would be to add a fluoro or mono leader as the salmon will still see the braid, even though it is blacked out - fluoro or mono leader is key :)
