Our Hall has grown the best out of any of the bare root from Ison's. (Planted January 2022.) Looks like you had a good year.

Nice. I'm jealous. How cold does it get in your yard during the winter? Here where I am in Virginia, it can get down to 5 degrees F.

Hi Kenny, love your muscadine grapes! Where do you buy them? I’m in Northern VA too. Can I get some cuttings or do you sell them?

@@123jollyranger I get them at Isons and Bottoms nursery. They are really good. For our area, you should only get early varieties. www.isons.com/product-category/muscadines/ bottoms-nursery.myshopify.com/collections

@@ken2ny4 thanks will look into it. Do you have any special tricks to growing them? What kind of fertilizer do you use?

Hey Kenny, what bait is in your hornet traps? I was very disappointed in my traps last year they were very unsuccessful.

I use fruit, sugar and water. They are attracted to exposed watermelon at a picnic. Same concept. The water is to drown them. The sugar is to speed up the rotting/fermentation of the fruit.

@@ken2ny4 I used grape jelly, water and a little dish soap. I’ve always heard the dish soap helps drowned them faster or something like that. I had also used shrimp a few years back and it was successful but last year I kept forgetting to put shrimp in the traps and it takes them a while to start decomposing. That may have been more for the flies. Thank you I’m going to try your recipe.

Another good video Kenny. I have 8 vines now. All are black muscadines. I just ordered from Ison's. I ordered Pam, Late Fry, and Hall. My neighbor has a bronze variety. these muscadines are very sweet and fruity and has a taste of cotton candy. He does not know what varieties he has. Are you familiar with a muscadine that has a cotton candy taste?

The only one that made that impression on me is Rosa. I don't have all the bronze so it could be anything. It could also be Scarlett, Summit or Fry. I am still waiting to try those.

Hey there. How often do you water your muscadine plants? I've been giving each of my newly planted muscadines 2 gallons a day (in heavy clay soil). I'm worried I'm overwatering them as I haven't seen much growth.

Depending on where you are. I normally don't water my vines at all. They have been through some dry summer.

@@ken2ny4 Thanks for the response. I'm in Texas so it can get pretty hot here, and we normally don't get much rain in the summer. I've pruned all the leaves along with all the new growth so I can't tell if I'm overwatering. The leaves are not growing back so that could be a sign that I am overwatering I guess. This has been quite a learning experience for me. Anyway, thanks again!

@@cuongha2531 I am in Louisiana, heavy clay soil. I try to water every other day when I have fruit on the vine. Muscadines do not like to stay wet or have wet feet as some say. Starting in April 1st. I fertilize each vine with 10-10-10 and on the 15th of each month during the season I give them calcium nitrate. Ison's nursery has many videos on growing and fertilizing muscadine vines.
