Driven over that bridge many a time! It is spectacular, especially in summer. Shoshone - "shuh show nee".

Actually, I've had several locals tell me they call it Show-Shown and that's how they say it on the local news channels I watched. kzitem.info/news/bejne/jpxn4JaajKOipoI and here on the Smithsonian Channel - kzitem.info/news/bejne/sHh4x5Oto3dhnmk So I guess both are acceptable ways to say it.

love your video . glad you enjoyed our area .I'm from this area , been here majority of my life . the bench you walked past down in Centennial is in memory of my uncle don . i sit and visit with him every time i visit the canyon which is quite frequently in spring & summer .it is one of my fave places to walk and get out in nature and get wildlife photos. lots of wildlife in that canyon . There's a herd of deer that are in that area frequently along with alll kinds of birds from pelicans ,& seagulls to ducks, geese ,even bald eagles & quail .theres lots of lizards and snakes ,yes even rattlers so watch your step if you are off trail. there is also a large amount of rock chucks which is what was on that rock when you wondered what it was . there is even an albino rock chuck living down there below waterfall that you drive past on way down into canyon . lots of rabbits and coyotes too. you should definitely make a trip back up here in early summer before it gets to blazing hot and dry . its beautiful that time of year when everything is in bloom and the animals are all over the place. if you come back up this way , make time to go to the south hills south of hansen ., there is alot of moose in those hills , might see a big momma with her babies . one of the mommas up there has twins most every yr . dont get to close tho they arent very friendly . thanks for sharing your video . if ever back up this way and need a few ideas on places to visit, let me know, i know lots of places to check out .

Nicely done! My wife is from an area North of there so we have explored the areas a number of times... We've found faire grounds in small places a much better solution than Walmarts. Most are not free but worth the nominal fee they charge. Really nice area's North of where you are as well. "Normally" as you head north it can get cooler and more mountainous depending on your route. It can get really hot in the summer where you are now though. I don't mean to be critical, but just fyi ... long "e" on the Falls (show-show-knee) 😊Named after the tribe. Lots of Native American names in the N.W.

Thank you for the great video. Usually we just drive through there on our snowbird trip home but next time we will stop and visit. In March 2020 as covid it, and we were rushing home to Canada, we drove over the bridge and I saw two people jump from the bridge. That gave me quite a start so some quick googling told me about the base jumpers. Might even try that campsite along the Snake River. I think our Pleasure Way class B won't have much a problem there.

Website says its $51 a night! too rich for our blood. I need to save all my pennies for diesel fuel these days :) We overnighted at Wildhorse Casino RV parking area for free, filled up with fuel and topped up the propane at the Arrowhead Travel Plaza there then drove down the road a bit and found a little Corp of Engineers Rec Area that is right on the river just below the dam for free for up to 7 nights. :) Called Rufus Landing. Were all set up for dry camping so don't really need to pay for the hookups. Cheers, Ray
