It's not everyday that you catch an Opsrey on a live bait. Boy, did we have a hard time keeping these dudes away from our striper bait. This made for a very challenging day of fishing with temps above 90 degrees, which feels like a sauna in the humidity of East Tennessee. Against those odds, we still landed some nice fish and I lost a real goodun. I was devastated at the end of the day, but hey... that's just fishin' and the story of the one that got away. Brian caught his first "boils fish" and we enjoyed a good time out on the water. Dams are the best place to target your first ever striped bass. The striper naturally like cooler more oxygenated water. Spillways and dams are generally the best ecosystems for them when the water temps get up in the 80 degree mark. Always remember to go with someone who is experienced fishing below these dams when the flow is on and ALWAYS wear a life jacket.
