Wait, what? 3 tenths in one chicane?
Well, yeah. In low speed corners the differences in braking performance and cornering speed cause a much bigger gain or loss of time.
The lesson from this reel is: Try to notice when you release the brakes way before you start turning (Example above). That means you're braking too early and being under the limit of grip in the transition between braking and turning.
We generally give ourselves a little bit of headroom to prevent locking the tires on turn-in, but if you get too much in your comfort zone, you end up overdoing it and losing too much time.
On the second example (Below), I brake some meters later, gaining time since the initial braking all the way until turn in. Plus, because of the trail braking, I end up having more weight on the fronts and getting better rotation (hence why I used so much inside kerb on the first apex compared to the slower example).
If you wanna go faster, get out of your comfort zone and start looking for little changes in your driving.
