One word - Heart. Chris is a warrior and we have a lonnngg history together. I'm so proud of this dude. What a journey! I brought Chris from white to black in Judo and Shingitai and we were always big fans of Roy Dean. In fact, we emulated many of his techniques from KZitem into our curriculum as it evolved. Now to see Chris earn his Black Belt in BJJ under Roy...it's just incredible. Cheers to you brother!

Since my 30th Birthday end of August this year life has taken a huge huge downward spiral in darkness and I found myself really depressed. My girlfriend at the time split with me so I lost the house the dog and the car.. But I have always had a fire in my belly for Brazilian jiu-jitsu. All I can say is thanks for healing me mentally and physically and im slowly coming in to the light at the end of the tunnel of depression. I started BJJ 1 month ago and last week I received my 1st stripe on my white belt. It might not seem as much but as a 30 year old man it really gave me a fire to work harder and harder and master this art that I've formed such an addiction to I am no longer dwelling on the past as I've been married to BJJ for one whole month. Thank you Roy for your amazing videos. Your tips help me in my training massively. Your a big inspiration. Thanks brother Mr Singh Nottingham UK

Chris has been one of my favorite ppl to watch. Aside from the fact he always wears dope gi’s and looks so cool in them, I just always liked watching how well executed his judo and bjj is. Amazing to see this. Very well deserved, Chris! Love Roy’s video’s. He and Rick have a filmmakers approach. His selection of score is always on point. Many don’t realize this, but it’s the reason why we FEEL his videos so much. The scoring compliments/intensifies the visual journey in the videos. Superb.

You could definitely see the fighting spirit coming through by the end of it because it was pure grit keeping him going. Then I literally started tearing up when they transitioned the belt and he paused holding it for a few moments letting it sink in that they day had finally arrived. Congratulations Chris! Comments from your past my brother from another! Your commitment and drive are beyond any expectation anyone could have ever expected to the art. From your days of riding your bike to Crestwood Karate and practicing your craft on all your buddies in the yard. From what I remember was you have always wanted to do, be and then take it to the next level. It has been years since we have talked. However, I have followed your journey through your brother’s glowing praise. You are an inspiration to many, but always remember you owe me that snowball fight.
