Donn this is Great. I am loving the multiple amp sound comparisons. This is exactly what we do at home or in the shop to truly pick a pedal. Please keep this idea going. It's the best way to hear a pedal online for sure. Thanks for everything you do guys!

Agreed! This is awesome, showing what different guitars sound like with different amps. This is probably one of the best demos I've seen. This is an awesome sounding pedal. Personally love the Les Paul sounds like through the Fender. But the Tele is smokin!

I'll say this: I'm not a tube screamer man myself but a slightly more boutique, EQD take on it with some clipping options, USA made for a price tag of just 99$ when a regular one is around 70-80 bucks used anyway? That's really not too shabby.

The great thing about this pedal is that the sound really shoots out front. I've played in a live setting and this pedal will cut through the mix extremely well.

Deng it Don! I thought I didn't need this pedal, already having a TS mini and Joyo TS style overdrive, and then you had to go do a great demo.

Mode 3 - “you’ll be very familiar with the way it sounds and feels” couldn’t be more true. Literally a tube screamer. I’ve done a side by side and it’s pretty much exact. I had to get a plumes cause if the versatility

Tried through different amps, with different guitars this is an excellent review. As for the pedal at around £100.00 in the UK it's a no brainer for this quality. Kind of makes me wonder why pedal companies charge so much?

I've hand built many a pedal over the years, from this exact pedal, to a whetstone phaser, and not a single pedal cost me more than $50 for parts! I understand paying for the time of the designer but when I see some pedals going in local stores for $400+ it just confirms to me that guitarists just LOVE giving their money away

The best 100.00 I ever heard for a killer overdrive pedal. I have heard some pedals costing much more-not delivering 25% as much. I am surre these are going to require, as most peals do a good noise gate. I think the best is the MXR Noise gate, the advanced one is the best.

Great overview Don! This one is on my board for sure. Ordered and psyched to get it. I could see this being an always on pedal for some that like a little dirt in their signal at all times. EQD rocks!

how come every distortion pedal I have ever played only sounds good with a boost in front of it? overdrives sound good by themselves ,but not distortions,with one or two exeptions. any thoughts on why this is ???

@adyuriar

Distortions generally are more compressed, thus squashing the overall signal. The boost pushes the volume level of the signal back up. Overdrives are less compressed with a more open sound that leaves the signal less squashed that keeps the volume level intact as well. Some boutique distortions also have boost built in for this reason. Hope this helps. Apologies if not. -Dave

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DONN, IS THE SWITCHING TRUE BYPASS™??????
@sweetwater
5 жыл бұрын
Zac Sweeney, the short answer is "yes." I figured you needed that immediately, your urgency is palpable. I do appreciate your enthusiasm, though! 😁 Seriously, thanks for your question. I double-checked with EQD to be certain about this. Plumes uses their Flexi-Switch which allows for either momentary or latching-style switching and the OM says "relay-based, true bypass switching" but I wanted to be 100% sure that there are no buffers in the signal path in bypass mode. True Bypass it is! Thanks again, Zac Sweeney! Peace, Don Carr

Sandy Turner I tried that pinnacle 3x and I’m sorry it’s not for me. I bought this. Love it. Not saying Wampler’s are bad. I have a bunch of their distortion pedals. Just saying I’m not a pinnacle fan. I have the dual fusion, the Soldano one. The triple wreck, velvet fuzz and a few more. Yes I’m broke but as I said couldn’t get the pinnacle to a setting I like but a lot of guys love it.

Rafi Kirder not true. Their palisades is a tube screamer type pedal with 401 options. And if you think the plumes is a ts type pedal it has 3 choices of sounds and it’s at a great price. Toggle to the right has way more gain than a regular tube screamer.
