You might want to try doing it when your hair is wet or has plenty of conditioner on it, if you find it tends to be more cooperative that way. I have to do stuff like that to help minimize my hair trying to tangle together while I work. Part of the trick also seems to be learning how to hold things in place with one hand so that you can stop and untangle the ends with the other hand. It really does seem to help if you make sure you fully separate each new bit of hair that you scoop up to join with the rest, especially at the ends-if the ends of it are still mixed in with the rest of your hair, it'll start catching and tangling as you work and it tends to get worse as it goes on. 😅 ETA: I had to spend a lot of time looking up tutorials for flat twists in order to really get a sense of the technique, plus just practice to get a sense of how it felt for my fingers to actually move in those patterns. The one by AbbieCurls is probably the one I tend to come back to most often-her demonstration of using your finger width to help get consistent spacing on the twist is really handy. And if you look closely, you'll see both she and ZipporahCardozo are smoothing down and separating the strands some as they work. I will say that the curlier your hair is, the more likely it's probably going to be to try to wrap and curl around itself, so making sure to separate the sections well as you go along is extra crucial. Personally my ends also are just flat-out rough and prone to knotting, so it could be pretty maddening to deal with at times, especially since detangling one-handed wasn't easy for me. I will say it's a really pretty and also quick style once you get the hang of it, and it's something I can pull off without having to alter the natural texture of my hair.

@AhsokaJackson
7 ай бұрын
Yep, it definitely does work. I recommended searching for flat twist tutorials here on KZitem. (Also believe I've seen it called a Dutch twist.) You'll see any number of creators who have thick (and often curly!) hair doing this hairstyle. Plus I have worn this style myself on a number of occasions, and I have very thick, fluffy, curly hair. You'll likely just have to spend some time browsing through videos and finding one that makes sense to you and shows the method clearly enough. Oh! One tip I do have is that I find it's easier to do when my hair is very wet, so you may want to try doing this right after showering or when you have a lot of conditioner moistening your hair.
