Small piece of advice: Yes, C-90 tapes are rated at 45 minutes per side, for a total of 90 minutes... C-60s have a 60-minute play time, etc. However, this is not a completely hard and fast rule, and some tape manufacturers back in the day would assemble their tapes with about a minute or two more or less than the advertised rating, so 90 minute tapes actually had between 43-47 minutes per side, depending on the manufacturer, 60 minute tapes had between 28-32 minutes per side, etc. Today, there is only one manufacturer left but the machines they use are not precise, so you still have a margin of error. So my advice for you is to take that extra bit of time to play the blank tape front to back on one side and time it, so you know exactly how long you have to record. The leader on the tape is about 5 seconds, so start the timer 5 seconds after you press play, and then stop it when the tape player automatically turns off the play button. Once you know precisely how much time you have per side, you can build your playlist to fit precisely in the window of time.

99% of the time, it’s more than the advertised length. I’ve had exactly one instance of it being a few seconds shorter, and that was a Denon 100 minute tape. The speed at which your deck plays is also a key factor in how much time you get.

Thanks this video was helpful. Here is some info that i think might be helpful to anyone doing this. You can plug a AUX cord into the port labeled "MIC" on any cassette recorder. It dose not have to say AUX. You don't have to use this specific cassette recorder. I did this method with a cassette recorder i found at goodwill for only $2.99. You don't have to use Spotify. You can use any music streaming service. I used apple music and it worked great. That’s all, Hope this helped :)

Some tapes have more, some have less. It would be prudent to time your blank tape by playing it on one side before you start recording on it so you know exactly how much time you have. There's about 5 seconds of leader on each end, so start your timer 5 seconds after you press play, stop the timer when it automatically stops, subtract the 5 seconds for the leader on the end of the tape, and you have your total time.

Finally I can have a mixtape. When I first saw this, the first song that came to mind that I should put on the tape was Panama.

What if I’m rapping or freestyling with the mic and I play a instrumental beat could it record my voice and the beat at the same time

Everything is ok, just tape isnt digital, and everything depends on equipment, so this way you get wery poor record quality, and its ok if you just want to play with tapes, but if you want to know how tapes sounds like, this isnt an option

Some people’s cars still have cassette players. Some people collect or make tapes for hobby. The reasoning is behind the person making it lol. 🤷🏻♂️ the ones I make have been for friends or myself, just because

If you get a deck that has the recording volume controls and atleast basic Noise Reduction B, you can record from any source

Yes, just plug the aux cord from your computer's headphone jack and into the recorder and it'll do the trick. Watch out for the ads, tho!

Hey, thanks! Just a quick question - when recording (using the same model as you!), the instrumentals are really clear, but the vocals are soft and muffled. Any idea how to fix this?
