I couldn't recall from this but I lived in East Glacier about 2-3 years (came up to do a 2nd ed on a Glacier book and just hung around), able to park my RV next to that abandoned A-frame in front of Dancing Bears Inn (where I worked at the time). Probably passed near many times walking around. Miss the unlimited hiking but now in a remote Powder River Ranch, also scenic as hell but no Park Service (Nazis as we called them then. Lots of good, lots of douches.) Cheers.

Ha ha ha, well, little has changed. As for the park service field staff, sadly, things are not any better. I always felt it was amusing when they would track me around off-trail as if they were trying to be sneaky and catch me doing something illegal. It never worked, and I never did anything illegal either.

@@TonyBynum Whew. I wondered about saying that. I generally respect rangers; most are good but in the years there was appalled by their behavior. They LIED to me about an interview only to get me into a station to give me ticket for a supposedly illegal campfire in normal pit but was supposed to be closer to camp center or some BS; I fought it, brought out their lies and how that violated both the rangers and the prosecutor office oath and did ...not ... go well. Got temporaily banned from the Park (riight; still plenty of ways in past the tourist gates as you know!) but refused to pay a dime until they took it from my taxes. Several other examples of just supreme douchery ... also got ticket for not having permit. This was JULY 4; no rangers in Two Med, none at the station at trail (Essex). I wrote It Happened in Glacier Nat Park and they went NUTS on my chapter about the treaty violations, refusing to stock it in the park if it was included and refused all requests for interviews or such. However, the library and office staff at West Glacier were superb and had full access to their public records. Think is just the morons wanting a uniform. Cheers.

Personally I would have raked the snow off the roof first then cleared the ground areas .
