A little overnight trip up to the Bunya Mountains to meet up with some friends and explore the eastern trails of the Bunya Mountains National Park from the Dandabah camp Ground and Day use area.
While it's very dry in the region at the moment, the rainforest is still spectacular and worth the 3hr drive north west from Brisbane. Starting early in the morning you are greeted with the sound of the many species of birds that call the rainforest home. From the Green Catbird and it's strange call to the Eastern Whipbird and Kookaburras to name just a few of the many you will hear.
At the time of this trip the waterfalls weren't flowing so that just means a return trip to see them after some good rain and to explore the western trails.
Great campsite with hot showers, a licensed cafe/restaurant, general store and cabins to stay in.
