This is the best solution for overhead. My search is finally over. Other solutions (such as c-stand, light-stand, mic-stand, crane/jib, special tripod, DIY stand) have all been too expensive and impractical. But this is the answer to what I have been looking for.

this would be the perfect solution for most people! I have super limited space in my studio and the backdrop pole legs take up too much room unfortunately :c The hunt continues for backdrop poles that clamp to opposite ends of my desk instead!

I have asked a few people to do a video of everything you have to do to make a video,including all the editing and what that involves...like a fly on the wall type thing. The ones I asked said they are going to do one but I am still waiting......and yeah,I know they are busy but I think they forgot. So while you are doing this it's worth a mention to you. I know so much work goes into like a 10 minute video but I really would like to know what you have to go thru.

I'm using your system. I don't understand why anybody would build one when I bought the back drop stand for $35. It is useless to have an overhead stand sitting on the desk where you are working. There is no way you will avoid a shaking camera. Many thanks for your video.

I want to do this setup with a BMPCC 4k with a Deity mic mounted on top of it. All in all, it's about 2.5 lbs. Can this setup support that weight?

This is a great solution, but is it possible to make it less wide? Your link leads to a 10ft wide backdrop stand. Is it possible to leave a link out of the horizontal tub to make it, say, 6 or 8ft wide? Thinking for smaller studios

If I point my cannon dslr downwards, is there a way to prevent the zoom from extending all the way out ? I can lock it in the closest position but otherwise it extends all the way when pointing towards the ground.
@ChadChristian

Sounds like your lens is slipping. You could put a piece of tape on it so it doesn't let the lens out from gravity. Try that out.
