Fascinating. The glazing was so cool to watch too! Now I'm wondering what counts as that old as I'm about to turn 60 😂

Wow, this was super interesting - I haven’t seen anything thrown that way before, with a second piece of clay being added! I’ve also been wanting to make a cake stand for a while, so I’ll have to try this! I really love how you glazed it. ❤

Hi! Thank you! I also haven’t seen it before, just figured it’s easier to throw this way. On videos that I’ve watched they either throw 2 separate pieces or make it from one piece of clay, which seems more complicated.

@@lifeandclay Yes, that’s how I’d only seen it done as well, which seems like it would make it weak if you stuck two separate bits together after making them. I’m definitely going to try your way! Did you dry the flat plate piece at all before adding the second lump of clay?

Haha, it’s pretty weird. Jelly, fruits sponge cake (or cookies) and sour cream with sugar and gelatin 😅

What's your advice on how to keep the glazed stand from warping in the kiln at Cone 6? BTW- Beautiful work!

I don’t think it’s glaze that is warping it. Try to let your stand dry very slowly. Every time you make something flat, don’t rush drying process. When I make plates, I let them dry completely covered in plastic, can take 2 weeks sometimes. Thank you!
