Mikey, I know this is an older video, but I hope you see my comment. I was looking for a throw for my daughter with a lot of texture, because she wants all one color. This is the perfect texture design for a single color. I also wanted the throw to be larger. You were perfect (again) to give me the stitch count. She is going to love it. Thank you so much for this tutorial. You never disappoint me. ❤

Hi Mikey, Have been watching you for many years. Thank you so much for doing this gauge swatch instruction. I sent it to my grand daughter who lives in Germany. She visited this past summer and showed me her crocheting. She's a very tight crocheter and she never gets gauge. But when she came to visit with her family, we didn't have time for me to sit down and show her this very basic information on finding gauge. So, I have sent this for her to see and be able to learn how to gauge her work. Thank you very much.

I've never known how to get the gauge correct. People always lectured about my stitches being too tight or too loose and this row was too tight and that row was too loose. I quit crocheting for a long time because I lost confidence due to all the negative criticism, never any positive criticism. Now I know how to do it correctly thanks to you. You are a great teacher. Now I can start crocheting again with more confidence. Thank you so much! You're the best! 💖💖

In beginning of video as explaining how to measure guage: When Mike counted the 4 inches for guage swatch, it seems from my viewing angle that he counted back from 4 inch line on tape measure back to the 1 inch mark. That would be 3 inches of stitches being counted not 4 inches. Easy to fix when we check our guage for this make. Love the blanket and all here for the variety of texture & stitches! Thanks for tutorial. Kudos to design team & crew!

I haven’t crocheted in years, but your video encouraged me to break out my needles & yarn! Easy to follow directions and very clear visually. Thank you! I learned how to crochet the Summer before I turned three simply by watching my mom, but I never learned the names of the stitches. She kept me focused on her hands while she watched tv, since it wasn’t necessary for her to look at her hands while she crocheted. It’s possible she didn’t know the names either, I never asked. You’d be hard pressed to find a missed stitch in any of her blankets except the last one. She was making a multicolored baby blanket for my son changing colors after each row. None of the rows were even, but not just by getting shorter. Some were really long out past the edge of the previous row. I can understand leaving off stitches and the row being shorter then the last, but I can’t figure out how she added stitches to random rows to go beyond the edge of the last row. No two rows in a row were even! It’s a sight!

Your blanket is gorgeous! The combination of long striped contrasting cake yarns with the different stitch textures comes out amazing. The use of a larger hook gave it more drape and the bigger stitches stick out beautiful. The only bad thing is that the cake yarns used here are out of stock. I guess that is good for the yarn company, since I suppose their inventory was sold out by everybody wanting to make this blanket. So, I am making a lower key version with some other yarn.

Michaels controls this particular brand and it's now out of season. It's the only place to buy it. It's considered a seasonal yarn, not year around unfortunately.

It's beautiful, and wonderfully explained! As soon as I can find this yarn (which seems to be missing everywhere...) I'll certainly follow this fabulous pattern. Thanks a lot for sharing!

This is exclusive to Michaels Stores. I believe the yarn is done for the season and may return next fall. It's on clearance now.

@@TheCrochetCrowd Thank you! I'm not sure they ship to France... I saw it on Amazon, but it was temporarily unavailable. I'll try again!

Great video. I'm gonna have to go searching for some fun yarn to use. Apparently the tea cakes are discontinued! So can't copy 😁

Hi Mickey Your explanation is great. I learn a lot with your video tutorials. I really don't like one side texture on my blankets . I like it on sweaters or dress garments only. But I appreciate your knowledge. Thanks

Thanks for sharing! The one sided texture makes the patterns easier to follow for a crocheter, depending on your skill level, so I favour that as it's easier and more people will be successful. I totally get what you are saying though.
