Brilliant. Thanks. Will visit my local Bunnings soon. Only thing is I think I'll just go with an empty soda bottle rather than the protein funnel to make it even cheaper.

This is a cool concept but I think I’d spend a few more dollars to figure out a better solution to purge the the hops. Cool idea for people on a budget like me.

It does purge the hops with this design, as I explain in the video, but I didn't want to add any other parts and make it too tall to fit in my fermentation chamber, or add a lot of cost.

Hey Dennis great idea but where the hops are sitting isnt air tight so when you tighten the lid and close the valve the co2 will escape and be replaced by oxygen if left for too long. Maybe some gas thread tape to make a seal. Just a thought.Love your work, always look forward to your videos.

Thanks! Yes, you could definitely add some Teflon tape to ensure a tighter seal. 🍻👍

What about putting the airlock on top of the hops lid then add hops and always have the valve cracked a little bit to let the co2 out then fully open on drop hop day. Then no messing with having the lid cracked and your airlock would still bubble. You could also use an old pop bottle lid with a hole and grommet for not adding dry hops just airlock.

I thought about that at first, but it wouldn't fit in my fermentation chamber. The height was too tall to be able to close the lid on my freezer. If you used a much larger fermentation chamber, you could definitely do it that way. 🍻👍

There are some really good ideas here. This could be a great upgrade for people fermenting in buckets (vs having to remove the lid to dry hop). I am looking forward to seeing it in action. Cheers. 🍻

Certainly do this versus the magnet trick if you are lacking in headspace! I created a hassle for myself on my last hazy. Fermented under pressure in my fermzilla, and did it inside since it was cooler. The crousin touched the first bag and got it saturated enough to fall in. Which in turn nucleated the co2 and cause it to agitate to the point of knocking the second bag in. Ultimately creating an eruption that turned my spunding valve into a hop squirt gun in my kitchen. It was a lovely mess, and I’m sure my cats were very entertained by it all! Don’t be like me! Build a dropper.

Haha we have all had those terrible, yet funny scenarios! Definitely need one of these instead!

Freaking genius dude!!! Was just the other day thinking of how to dry hop without opening my fermonster. Thanks for sharing this.

That's what I'm here for! I like doing the magnet trick as well but this one is one I'm going to be doing from now on when I know I'm going to have a lot of fermentation action. 🤘🍻

This is brilliant guys! I love using the Hop Bong while under pressure fermenting, but since I’m a newbie, I try to brew many different styles and variations so Bucket Fermenting is always a good way, and I do always brew Hazies so always dry hopping when the yeasties are producing CO2 like a factory. Thanks and cheers 🍻
