Thanks for this Abi. As it happens I have a Brother Nv1800q and it’s going. It’s the most temperamental and unreliable machine I’ve ever owned. Despite cleaning and good quality threads and needles, new bobbin case and tension calibration and all that it’s endless jamming, nests, bobbin thread loops, going into lock for no reason, winding the bobbin thread around the shaft instead of the bobbin, etc etc. In the time I’ve owned it I’ve spent more time unpicking bad stitches and fixing the machine than I have sewing. So I’m getting a Janome 1600p. Simple, and no issues with thick layers.

I bought the lowest end Brother machine Walmart had to offer, I’m a beginner and I’m struggling with many issues. I’m subscribing to your channel in hopes I can learn everything I’m doing wrong 😊 Thank you so much for your posts!

Also, I mostly use mine for making junk journals and sew through a lot of paper/fabrics combinations, so I’m thinking maybe I should change my needle more often because I may be dulling them? I get a lot of tangled nesting underneath and skipped stitching.

@@AbisDen Oh, one of the reasons for buying this machine was the stitch creation. I will be selling my Bernette B38 that I had before because I never loved that machine, and she deserves better, :) I am looking for more F420 videos. LOVE the machine cleaning videos. Makes me less scared doing it.

Hi Abi. TheThank you for explaining the possible causes of problems. You give me hope to solve mine. My Juki mO 654 is stuck, literally. The right needle hit the upper looper and broke. I have tried oiling the machine but it still doesnt worl. I tried “ adjusting” the upper looper so that it won’t hit the right needle, but now it is totally stuck. I can’t move the handwheel, so I left it at that. I hope you can help by showing how to fix it. Thank you so much. Dellie

Sorry to hear that you’re having so much trouble. Possibly there is a fragment stuck somewhere in the mechanism but I doubt that. Juki machines are amazingly resilient You may have forced it round too much? It’s so tricky to know without seeing it. Many problems are individual to the machine x

I have the Melody, which appears to be Babylock’s version of this machine. Twice I have had the dreaded safety device activation message. I fruitlessly scoured KZitem and the rest of the internet looking for information beyond “take it to the repair shop.” Thank you for this video!

The “Babylock” sewing machines aren’t actually made by the original Babylock Japan. Babylock Japan don’t produce sewing machines. These machines have been produced by the same factories in which Brother have theirs made. Just generic factories. It’s like buying a phone that looks like the Apple iPhone from a generic factory and slapping Apple on it. So you’ll find this reset should work for you.

Too much maintenance to dust a machine. Too many screws. Mechanical machines all the way for me! I can snip threads and needle up and down with my hand wheel! Never get an error message on my Kenmore!
