I've been a GC here in southern CA since 2005. Until March 2023, I had never seen this. I was thinking some dude just grabbed some old sponge and went to town. I saw the brush in the tools bin and it had a similar shape so i picked one up. I ended up doing it just like you with some trial and error. You made it look easy.

Very good video. The commentary was awesome. It helps a lot when someone can not only show you how to do something, but talk you through it at the same time. Well done!

Man I really appreciate this video. I’m just getting ready to texture my basement and bought this tool and was looking for some advice on how to use it. You answered every question I was thinking about while you were going through the process. Thank you for the thought that you put into this and sharing your experience and knowledge.

Thank you for the video. I live in Sioux Falls and just started a handyman service. I have good results but I definitely could use some tips getting the job done faster. Like what is okay to let go and what will show. I think I spend to much time fussing.

Why not just roll the mud on and then stomp it. Seems like alot of extra work dipping every single time.

I actually like this technique I thought people always rolled it on first. This way I could keep it perfectly consistent. Haven't tried it yet but this turned out beautiful

Tomato, tomoto, whatever makes you happy, you do you as long as it's not the wrong way you're good, right? But, it's definitely much easier with a better pattern consistency if you roll on the mud first with a nap roller, then use your stipple brush to stomp your pattern. You can do it this way by yourself sure, yet it's much easier & better with 2 people working in sync one in front of the other together, ya dig? Just saying... ++Peace, Funk & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Souls++

I just repaired a cut out in a stomp texture ceiling again and it's like it was never there . I don't know why anyone would want that when they could get a real finisher like me to do smooth. They easier to repair if u have to and take less paint.

Awesome tips, as I am removing my popcorn texture! I am still thinking about how long to wait when knocking it down with that plastic one? Is there a way to look at it and see if it is time?

Great Video? Question: Did you prime the ceiling before or after you completed the Stomp?
@dakotacustomdrywallpaint3218
3 жыл бұрын
I always prime the drywall prior to texture. This is mainly done to give the walls a consistent surface for the orange peel texture to dry on. This prevents flashing, which is where the texture dries differently over the mud joints than it does over the Sheetrock surface. This is not nearly as important on the ceilings because the crows foot is a more aggressive texture, but it doesn’t hurt to have the ceilings primed because then your crows foot dries perfectly even also.

great tips. Nice work. One question after u do that texture on the ceiling do u go back and paint it or is that the finish? Maybe a dumb question but i was wondering if u paint after u texture the ceiling.
@EhurtAfy

Not sure if you're interested in an answer after almost a year, but I work for a large home builder and yes, the ceiling gets painted. They spray the walls so the ceiling gets painted also. The paint is off-white so it looks fine. If the paint is darker, it costs more because the ceiling does not get painted in that situation. It's perfectly fine to leave the ceiling unpainted. I prefer painted ceilings because rusty nailheads sometimes show through the drywall, paint covers that
