One of the common complaints when working on this particular engine is that the OE clamps are a pain in the butt; but that’s only if you’ve never used them and don’t know how to work them. Once you know, they’re an effective, slim, fast, and low-profile clamp for this application.
Some people use traditional gear clamps instead but the screw part of those can interfere with the throttle linkage and cause limited power and a check engine light, and they can be over tightened causing damage to the rubber boot. Once mastered, the OE clamps they are actually as easy as gear clamps.
