Those are some nice looking Imperial Fists! I really like the look of the Tortuga Bay termintors but giving them regular Terminator heads gives them a whole new and equally cool look! I've used Micro Sol and Micro Set for a while, it's something I picked up from the scale modelling community. In my experience you often don't even need to fiddle with the decal after applying Micro Sol, it does its thing and gets the decal conforming to the surface on its own. I have some home printed decals for a homebrew chapter of space marines and the decals are a bit on the inflexible side. Micro Sol and Micro Set have been invaluable in getting their decals onto my models.

Congratulations on the new studio space! It's been amazing to see the growth of the chanel. Well deserved! As a part time furniture-maker myself I'd probably suggest a Danish Oil finish for the table. It's VOC-free which is ideal for an enclosed space like that with limited air flow. Last thing you want are harmful fumes hanging around... And it'll keep the natural wood look whilst adding a little more protection over a simple oil or stain. It's also pretty cheap and extremely easy to apply!

Table, IMHO paint it white and when somebody comes over to do a game have them sign and date it in black sharpie gives you a history!! I think Simon needs to come back and help you with the 1 thing a studio should have for a painting studio. . a spray booth setup permanently for you to spray inside. I have seen a few videos of people doing DIY or purchased. turn it into a video I know you are a paint channel but seeing this kind of DIY is helpful and I think a spray booth would be an ideal addition if you have space. Anyways gratz on studio cant wait to see the titan!!!

New studio looking really nice, I think that if You used wood stain on the table to match the color of the old wooden beam it would add cool fantasy-ish vibe while also looking great. Also a good-looking paint job on the imperial fists but I would argue that doing the chipping starting from the lighter colour of the armour to then rusty and steel is more efficient. The technique I'm used to is to first get the lighter shade of the main colour on the sponge dab it off a little (kind of like drybrushing, makes it easier to control) and then dab on the chipping, after that dries go in with a small brush and paint rusty colour inside the light colour chips while leaving some of the smaller ones one colour, then repeat with silver paint or graphite stick painting even less of an area. And Thank You for the great vids :)

Great video mate it's good to see you back and feeling healthy! With the table, I'd definitely recommend giving it a stain and varnish! staining it a nice dark brown will give you the best of both worlds, that bare wood look you like as well as that darkened finished look that black gives!

I have IF as my main army, and your making me incredibly envious of that yellow. I use an overbrush Filthy Brown (Averland Sunset), Filthy Brown + Deep Yellow 1:2, and finally a last overbrush of exclusively Deep Yellow on the raised area. Seems to work great, and it comes out with the slightly more orange-y look of current GW models. Love the use of weathering, all IF should look like they've singlehandly marched through a battlefield whilst the enemy chucked literally everything at them. And they're still coming :)

The wood looks nice, you could always give it a lineseed oil coating - won't be as obvious when it scratches, is easy to fix once it gets really worn and keeps that nice wood grain visible without changing the colour too much!

Envious of your setup. Have a look at Halford's Filler Primer. It is a very nice yellow colour. Ideal for doing WW2 German tanks. Normally I use over Halford's grey but if you want a brighter tone go white. It also works well as an undercoat for a red especially if you are after a warm finish. Their red primer works a treat for that too. You may guess I am a bit of a fan for Halfords! I usually go for Casandora Yellow and/or Seraphim Sepia afterwards. I have been playing with Contrasts eg. Nazdreg & Iyanden for effects. Micro Set & Sol, The only way to go for transfers. Sometimes I will go the whole hog and use a high gloss on the specific areas prior to applying the transfers and another light coat when dry. Then finish with an all over of Army Painter Anti-Shine.

Guy I have two points. One where can I find one of those color wheels. I'm new to painting and horrible at picking complimentary/secondary colors. And two please do something with the bare wood gaming table. If you don't in a year or two you won't be happy. Bare wood draws oils from you hands and will leave the wood stained and dirty looking. You likely won't be happy. Paint, stain, varnish or clear coat it. You'll be so much happier in the long run. Thanks for all the great videos and the new studio is pretty awesome!

The colour wheel is great to go off of for beginners and intermediates to get yourself adjusted to how colours interact but as you get more experienced youll find it is actually limiting and is really only a stepping stone. There are better colours for what you want to achieve once you develop techniques.

Nice studio and good video. I do chipping pretty much exactly like this on my fantasy models, but I also add some thick paint to the edges of the chip to make it look like it peeled off and clumped. Though one fun tidbit to note about chipping space marines specifically is that ceramite has been described to be quite varied in appearance. Gunmetal and silver being two metallic ones, but more uniquely it's been described to be more like a dull grey, white or even reddish stone-like material, not a metal. So doing your chipping in a non-metallic tone could be a neat way to make it more distinct.
