Hi Alex. I put an edit into the video so as not to confuse anyone. It’s a white correction box that pops up during the video. Sorry for any confusion.

Your 1g = .001 mg is incorrect. You said .001mg = 1g. It is 1000mg = 1 gram. This is going to confuse people.
@CKArts.studio6

Yes- sorry! 1gram= 1000mg .001 gram = 1 mg At 4.15 in yellow I moved the decimal in the wrong direction and it should be 1 gram --> 1000 mg Thanks for pointing that out!

Hi, I am doing drug calculations. How would you equal mg to grams? 62.5 mg per 2ml is available on hand. Doctor prescribed 0.025 g..Can you please explain this conversion please.
@CKArts.studio6
7 жыл бұрын
This is how I would do that calculation: First convert grams to milligrams 0.025 grams --> move the decimal place 3 spaces to the right --> 25 mg 0.025 grams= 25 mg So, the doctor ordered 25 mg of medication Then: Dose ordered/Dose on hand X Volume of medication = mL 25 mg/62.5 mg X 2 mL 25 X 2 = 50 50/62.5 = 0.8 mL There are many ways to do this. I prefer to tell my students to multiply dose ordered X volume and then divide by the dose on hand. Remember: The dose on hand and the dose ordered with always be the same (mg-mg) and the volume will always be the same as the answer (mL-mL) Not always easy to explain when written out online, but I hope this helps you.

Decimal places means the amount of zeros? If I’m moving 3 places to the right does that mean adding 3 zeros Im in dosage calculations and we are learning so many different rules i getting confused. Im like I need the conversion in medications down packed as I must pass and I want to learn this stuff too
@CKArts.studio6
11 ай бұрын
You are adding zeros, but you are moving to the left of the decimal you are making a smaller number. If you have 3 grams= X mg. 3.0 grams --> you move the decimal 3 PLACES ->. 0.003 you add the zeros after you move the decimal past the 3. So 3 grams= 0.003mg. HTH

@CKArts.studio6

When it comes to pounds and kg: There are 2.2 pounds for each kilogram, making kilograms bigger. If someone weighs 150 lbs (pounds) they will only weigh 68.18 kg. In other words, divide 150/2.2 = 68.18

+hmood ska Easy! Move the decimal point 6 places to the right. 15 kg= 15,000 grams (3 places) = 15,000,000 mg (3 more places). Does that make sense to you?

Caren Kaziyev From small to large? right or not.
@CKArts.studio6
8 жыл бұрын
If you are converting larger kilograms to smaller grams you move the decimal to the right. Think of 1 kg as a large block and 1 milligram as a small block. So you are moving from larger to smaller when converting Kg to mg.
